OVERVIEW

Blue coated acoustic guitar strings on a hexagonal core.

The K3 Coating on DR Strings' Cool Blue Electric Strings is the first coating that players report, "sounds as good or better than uncoated strings." DR's remarkable, proprietary K3 Technology Coating is the first coating that makes no apologies and no excuses for not delivering sound equal to uncoated strings. Players have remarked that these strings have more volume, less unwanted overtones, greater clarity and articulation then standard, uncoated strings. Yet, they provide the same protection due to corrosion and perspiration as well as increased tone life that coated strings are known for.

Comments about DR Strings COOL BLUE COATED ACOUSTIC STRINGS MEDIUM LIGHT (11-50):

First let me say I have used non-coated DR strings in the past, primarily their 11-50 gauge, that works well for me for my combo pick and finger picking style. Second, I have used the other major brands coated strings, so I know how coated strings preform, both their pros and cons. But these DR Coated strings (Cool Blues) just flake the coating off with very little use. What I believed would be a "cool" looking set of strings, that would meet my gauge requirements and provide extended life, turned out to be a waste of time and money. It's a shame I purchased 3 sets because I will end up giving away the other two sets or maybe using them as a "sacrificial set" when setting up an acoustic, then replacing them with something else. Bottom Line: Could be a good choice if you just want to display your guitar, with cool looking blue strings, and not actually play it...

Comments about DR Strings COOL BLUE COATED ACOUSTIC STRINGS MEDIUM LIGHT (11-50):

The Musicians Friend strings are 100 times better than these strings. Find something else if you want to play. The B and E strings didnt even make it to being in tune before snapping. There are many better products out there.
