OVERVIEW

Blue coated electric guitar strings on a hexagonal core.

The K3 Coating on DR Strings' Cool Blue Electric Strings is the first coating that players report, "sounds as good or better than uncoated strings." DR's remarkable, proprietary K3 Technology Coating is the first coating that makes no apologies and no excuses for not delivering sound equal to uncoated strings. Players have remarked that these strings have more volume, less unwanted overtones, greater clarity and articulation then standard, uncoated strings. Yet, they provide the same protection due to corrosion and perspiration as well as increased tone life that coated strings are known for.

I use Elixir strings religously but wanted to experiment with other brands and tried the Cool Blues. They sounded great when I strung up the guitar but after a day or two, very quickly rusted out over the course of a few hour playing session. They became dull and lifeless in no time. Very disappointing as I would have expected this issue with non-coated strings and not coated strings.

Comments about DR Strings Cool Blue Coated Electric Strings Lite (9-42):

Plain and simple, they are dead and lifeless when you put them on straight out of the package. It is true what they claim....they do hold their string life for a long time.....they start out dead and lifeless and they stay that way. Go with Elixir strings. They are the only ones who have this coating process down pat. These are pretty, sure....but worthless otherwise.

Comments about DR Strings Cool Blue Coated Electric Strings Lite (9-42):

They sounded dull from the second I put them on. After 2 practice sessions, the color was almost gone from part of the strings. I use DR Tite Fits regularly, so I didn't expect to be this disappointed in DR Strings. I went back to Tite Fits after 2 days.

The high E broke before I could get it tuned! I would not waste my time with these even if they were free.

I use a Strat modified from the 80's than can get a little thin . These strings take a little high end off and my tone has improved . I use Floyd Rose both down and up and stays in tune and I get long life .
