Comments about DR Strings Nickel Medium Lo-Riders 5-String Bass Strings:

I bought these strings for my 5-string Yamaha RBX765a bass guitar a few years ago. More to the point, they are fabulous tools for bass exploration and expression! These nickel, medium-gauge strings are truly the "sonic medium" I have long searched for between tactile zen and shapely wood. Honestly, I feel that if I try to say or explain anymore, I'll spoil it for you. I mean, what is the measure of another person's input to that of one's own experience? OK -- final though: If I still have these strings on my bass after a few years, there has to be a reason(s). I have, quite vaguely, given you mine. What will your's be?

Comments about DR Strings Nickel Medium Lo-Riders 5-String Bass Strings:

Had been using DR Hi Beams for several years but was getting tired of the clanking fret noise & zing you hear when moving up & down the fret board. The DR Lo Riders cure that. You still get lots of musical tone but little in the way of nonmusical noise. I realize I wasn't fighting the guitarist so much as myself. Now the bass sound is right underneath the guitar & vocals & not cluttering up the mix. The stage volume has become noticably calmer, if not quieter.
Don't mistake "warm tone" with muted tone. Plenty of growl & sweet hi's if you want them & they won't get covered up by clanking fret noise. The best part is they aren't any more expensive than the Hi Beams.
They have consistant tone string to string & across the fretboard. They're easy on the fingers & your frets. I don't find them to be any stiffer than the Hi Beams.
I've used many different strings over the years & found DR to be the most reliable & readily available. I was close before with the Hi Beams but now I hit paydirt!

          Money Well Spent

Comments about DR Strings Nickel Medium Lo-Riders 5-String Bass Strings:

I was given a set of these by our first albums engineer and was sold from then on. I've played bass for 5 years and have been playing nickel lo-riders for 4 of them. They have been great all around with strong, deep lows, warm mids that growl when I make them and clean, bright highs. I have recomended these strings to every bass player I've met. They're also easy on the fingers and last almost twice as long as any other string I've played. You have to try these at least once.
