Comments about DR Strings Red Devils Medium 4-String Bass Strings:

I became interested in the DR coated strings because of the colors available. I'm a sucker for stuff like that. I have used the DR coated strings (Black Beauties, Red Devils, and c.) now since 2005. Keep them clean and they last for months of three or four times-per-week gigs, with rehearsals and practice thrown in. Also, they do not grind on the frets, and the coating offers a tiny bit less finger noise. There are circumstances that dictate a "harder" sounding string, but for overall round wound use these strings are very good. Mine I use on a straight Fender P Bass and a G&L M-2000.

Comments about DR Strings Red Devils Medium 4-String Bass Strings:

I just put these on my Squier Telecaster Bass. The feel and tone are great. They are bright with a fat low end.

I installed a GraphTech nut and a Fender high-mass bridge which really enhance the tone and sustain of the bass. These strings take advantage of those modifications exceptionally. Sustain for days!

I am a first time user of these strings and cannot offer you any experience of their life, but DR has a good reputation and I believe coated strings will outlive most uncoated strings. I mostly play with fingers but coatings will come off with moderate to heavy pick use. Not worried about it.

These will be used for home recordings and practice but their tone would be great in a live venue as well. I am just not playing out any more.

The only concern I would mention is that uncoated strings ground better when touched if there are 60Hz issues. But these do ground.

I have attached a photo. I doubt anyone can say that they do not look crazy cool! Thanks DR and MF!

        VERY Cool.

Comments about DR Strings Red Devils Medium 4-String Bass Strings:

I don't play too much bass, but the bassist in my band (and my good friend) uses these strings. At our first gig, everyone (6 people) mentioned how cool the strings looked. Out of experience, the strings are comfortable, smooth, and they sound great on an Ibanez.

        DR Red Devils

Comments about DR Strings Red Devils Medium 4-String Bass Strings:

I bought these strings for a warlock bass that i had at the time and i was very disappointed with how they played, They made it very difficult to move up and down the neck quickly and the sound quality wasn't that good. Definately not worth the price.

        Great, while they last.

These strings are :#1 Awesome looking. The color is a smooth red.#2 Sound great the first couple months of playing themHowever,After several months, (about 6 in my case) the color starts fading, the sound becomes wirey and metallic. I've boiled them several times but at this point, my E string wont even pick up on the tuner beyond a flat bad sounding E. They are good for a bout ayear total and if you want soemhting flashy and somehtign that looks cool, get these. They Rock

Comments about DR Strings Red Devils Medium 4-String Bass Strings:

I got a set of the medium blue strings for free about six months ago and put them on my 74 P-bass. These strings have great feel and tone. I play for at least two hours a day and these strings still feel and sound like I just put them on. I had a set of the black strings on my 2004 jazz bass and they also sounded felt and sounded great. The only problem with the black ones is that they are really hard to see on a poorly lit stage. I replaced the black with the red. I can't imagine going back to using E. Balls or GHS Boomers again. THese strings just feel and play great!!!!
