I learned to play acoustic guitar in my late forties and I started with a fairly cheap guitar. As I progressed, I started to experiment with different brands and diameters of strings. Being a diesel mechanic, I owned lots of different hand tools. I tried all sizes and types of screwdrivers, picks, & pliers imagineable but none of them worked very well to remove those pesky little pins without marring the heads of them.
One day when I was online drooling over Martin, Taylor, and Gibson guitars I decided to buy this little "doohickey", as we call them in the south, that fit nicely into my budget.
Using this pin puller made changing strings a snap without any damage to the pins. I was so impressed that I bought a second one to keep as a spare.
This thing actually made my music sound better too because after the string change I use the other end to open several bottles of my favorite adult beverage. As the saying goes "the more you drink, the better we sound"....lol.
Seriously, buy yourself one, you won't regret it.

This is a simple, brilliant, indispensable device for pulling bridge pins. I've been using them for years and own several. Small and light enough to carry anywhere - the ones I've bought in the past were usable as a keychain, with a small ball chain looped through for that purpose. You simply put the slot behind your pins, slide it forwoard onto the pin and gently but firmly lift up. Effortless, and you will never harm your bridge and/or pins.

My ONLY beef is with the absurd price of this thing. I've purchased many identical but un-branded versions of this guy in the past for a buck apiece. One look at this thing will tell you, although it is of fine quality and plenty sturdy to last forever, that it costs pennies to produce. Granted, molds for plastic bits like this are expensive. But still... Sheesh.

I got this as a free gift with a big order. WOW. I didn't know what I was missing. This thing is very well made (thick and heavy) and I will never again be without one. No more butter knives and plyers for getting the pins out!! The bottle opener...? Well ya never know when ya might need one.

The quality is good & I would be happy with it if would fit over the pins on my guitar. They should say in the product description that it doesn't fit all pins.

It's small and getting a good grip can be a challenge. If you have a pin that is set tight this is not the tool for you. But for the normal situation, it does the job nicely.

                          Some Fixable Issues...

                          By

                          from Prescott, Arizona

Comments about Dunlop Bridge Pin Puller/Bottle Opener:

                          Fills a need, quite inexpensively.
This thing does work well, but you have to remember that pulling up on the bridge pins can place stress on the bridge to body glue joint, so you need to use your thumb to hold down the bridge, while the rest of your fingers pull upward. That's point one. Next, there are 2 minor problems that can be corrected pretty easy, if you're clever. First, the tip area has multiple sharp edges which can scratch your bridge... the plastic is soft so use a very fine file to round off the edges, then finish up with some ultra fine sandpaper. I used 2000 grit, which smoothed it up beautifully. Finally, the plastic obviously contains silicone, which I think helps with getting the object out of the mold, but it's really unpleasant because it continues to come out of the plastic forever, so that whenever you touch it you get this slippery stuff all over your fingers and it's really hard to wash off. This seems to be a problem with a lot of molded plastic items from China. The fix I have found it to bake the thing for a while, and since I live in Arizona I just put it on the dashboard of my car for a month or two, and that seems to get all the nasty silicone out of it, or seal it up some way or other so that the problem is greatly reduced or eliminated. Otherwise you can wipe it off with a damp paper towel just before you use it, and it will stay clean for a short time... but several hours later, it's all slippery and siliconed up again. Ah, the pleasures of Chinese manufacturing.
Not the greatest, but easily fixed up.
For the price, I would recommend it.
