OVERVIEW

Combat finger grunge!

Gauges: 13-13-17-17-30-14-39-18-47-27-56-35.

Elixirs are the first major innovation in strings in over forty years, and they deliver what they promise: great tone and long life no matter what you put them on or how often you play. Nanoweb coating permits guitar strings with the feel, bright tone, and punch of traditional strings.

Elixir 12-String Guitar Strings are covered with an ultra-thin, space-age polymer tube that contacts the string on the tops of the windings only. This leaves the all-important winding-to-winding-to-core space free from the fear of the enemies of tone!

Most players report that Elixir Strings keep sounding great 3 to five times longer than ordinary strings.

Comments about Elixir Nanoweb Heavy 12-String Acoustic Guitar Strings:

I see two people who seem to hate these things, but with no specifics as to why, that's not much info. I wonder if people might not be trying to tune these to concert pitch or something. I like these strings fine in terms of tone and durability, but I think they are better suited at these gauges to be tuned down to C rather than the C# Elixir recommends, only because they put a HUGE pull on the neck and bridge. In fact, after 17years without putting any bow on the rock-hard neck of my Larivee D-3-12 using heavy-gauge sets I scrounged myself, these strings have caused the bridge to separate slightly from the face, causing saddle action problems, etc. Should've paid better attention to it sooner, but anyway, if you string up with them, I suggest you watch carefully how your neck and bridge (and top) handle these heavy-duty things.

Comments about Elixir Nanoweb Heavy 12-String Acoustic Guitar Strings:

Heavy gauge strings on a Norman 12 String ... These strings after about 1/2 hour of settling in were stretched and good to go. Tuned to c flat and capoed up D or E and they have a solid tone without any twang. The coating takes a little getting used to as they feel slick, but the lack of squeak is worth it. Great product, great price and fast order processing and delivery through Musicians Friend unbeatable.

I tuned guitar two full steps to help with tension on guitar neck, also lower tension is very easy on the fingers, best sound my 12 string sea gull has ever had.

            Not good

Comments about Elixir Nanoweb Heavy 12-String Acoustic Guitar Strings:

Worst set of strings I've ever purchased, took them off almost immediately after putting them on, have used others by this manufacturer that were ok but not these

            They Never Get Broken In

            By NotElixir

Comments about Elixir Nanoweb Heavy 12-String Acoustic Guitar Strings:

I bought these strings purely as an experiment to see if I like coated strings. They were as heavy as needed (I down tune 3 steps) but they maintain that tinny sound that regular new strings tend to lose after being played for a few hours. I much prefer a mellower tone. If you like that acoustic/electric bite then these strings should satisfy and for a long time. I'm still not convinced they're worth the money, however.

            Discusted

Comments about Elixir Nanoweb Heavy 12-String Acoustic Guitar Strings:

I've been playing guitar for almost 40 years. I just bought this set of strings and they are the worst I've ever dealt with. Two of them broke just trying to tune them. Don't waste your money on these when you can buy four sets of Martin's at the same cost. If I had bought them at a local music store I could have returned them.
