EMG

With built-in preamp specially tuned for beautiful transient tone, adjustable pole-pieces, and fingertip volume control.

The EMG-ACS has already become the pickup of choice for acoustic artists. Champion fingerstylist Pat Kirtley is only one of many players who have discovered the ACS. The perfect mix of EMG Technology and design come together in the ACS Acoustic Sound Hole Pickup.

Only an active design can deliver the kind of frequency response, output, and quiet performance needed in a soundhole pickup. The ACS employs a unique internal preamp that has been tailored for the phase and frequency response of an acoustic guitar. Full, clear tone is effortlessly produced by the ACS, with a great balance from low to high strings, yet it retains a brilliant top-end favored in acoustic guitar tone.

The ACS can also be used in combination with the AS93U or AS125U pickup systems for even greater flexibility. Low impedance output gives you a host of features unavailable from any other sound-hole pickup.

Recording direct to tape is a true pleasure. The result is not only great tone in the studio, but live performances are a joy because of the great tone and ample output before feedback occurs. Adjustable pole pieces allow for easy string balance no matter what type of strings you use. The ACS Pickup has an on-board fingertip volume control for easy level adjustment. A single piece mounting bracket and the EMG Quik-Connector allow effortless installation and removal.

Comments about EMG ACS Acoustic Active Soundhole Pickup System:

This EMG ACS is simply an excellent magnetic pickup. It can be played in practically every situation because its so feedback-resistant and cuts really nice any mix. Also, it's very simple, just a volume control. In reality, you won't anything else besides the mixing console or an amp. But what I love the most is that it won't eat you batteries at all.

        Buy one you'll love it....

        By Robert Landry

Comments about EMG ACS Acoustic Active Soundhole Pickup System:

This pick-up captures low-end better than any acoustic pick-up I've heard...without the normal feedback issues. Take the time to adjust the pick-up poles to your guitar and your taste and you'll never want to play with anything else. I have EMG's in four of my electric guitars and will not settle for anything else. I guess it was time to bring that EMG quality to my favorite acoustic.

If there is any negative comment I could add...it would be the fact that this pick-up is UGLY and if that distracts you...you're playing for the wrong reasons.
The EMG ACS is everything you'll need and more. First if you're looking for great acoustic tone this pickup is perfect, but if you're looking for a bunch of buttons, switches, dials and knobs to play with look somewhere else. The only control it offers is volume which I could do without. I'm using it with my Yairi DYM 95 a guitar I was unwilling to drill holes in through a BBE Acoustimax.
        Solid build... No Soldering required!
Worth every penny. Compared to the prices on similar LR Baggs Models this thing is cheap....

So good I bought a second one

        By Pops-AEn6h

Comments about EMG ACS Acoustic Active Soundhole Pickup System:

Years ago, I saw an interview with Lou Reed. He said he hated piezos, and was using the EMG ACS. I don't care much for piezos either, so I tried one on a sweet cedar/cherry Art & Lutherie (think Seagull). Sounds like angels. Low strings sound much better than Piezo solutions. Bought another for my Martin later.

Read the instructions. With Martin/D'Addario 11's and 12's, I have to remove the b-string pole piece and drop the high e-string pole pieces alot. Balancing the output of the strings is critical.

The sound is uber-mellow. It sounds great through a high-headroom Carvin tube (6L6) amp clean channel, and tames the harshness of my Marshall AS100D acoustic amp. If you want the jangle of a hard-strummed Martin, you'll miss it here, but single-notes and finger-picking sound great. Feedback resistance is good, and microphonics are low. A joy to play.

I suppose the only downer is that the sound hole is partially blocked, but I have trouble standing in front of a guitar I'm playing, so I don't suffer from this problem. That and I can't stick one in my Ovations.

Don't let the "EMG" (or Lou Reed) scare you.
Live without the tone control. Your amp has them. Installation is easier than most under-bridge piezo solutions, and the sound is better - smoother with less feedback. A battery bag velcros in against the end of the neck inside the body.
        Doesn't seem failure-prone. Quality sound.
It's pricey, but it keeps up with other pricey solutions. I bought a second one maybe three years ago, and they were getting very hard to find. Looks like EMG cranked out another batch.

Comments about EMG ACS Acoustic Active Soundhole Pickup System:

No hum or feedback. Really warm tone but good balance.
It has a volume control but does not have tone control on pick up.
        Professional, gig-worthy quality.
        Slightly overpriced.

Perfect pick up for Blueridge 143

        By hnkdwg

        from Heart of Dixie

        Ask me a question

Comments about EMG ACS Acoustic Active Soundhole Pickup System:

This pick up reproduces a well balanced sound. It did warm up the tone of this guitar. The fact that there is no tone control on the pick up is a factor to consider for live performances.
This a good choice for the Blueridge BR-143. This guitar is loud & bright with light gauge GHS phosphor bronze strings and the sound is well balanced. The EMG ACS warmed up the tone but kept the overall balance, the highs were equally loud but the lows were very warm. It gives the guitar a warm, blues sound. Using a Deluxe Reverb Reissue with tone controls on 4 & volume on 3 the guitar was leaned against the front of the amp and produced absolutely no hum or feedback. Please note that there is only a volume control.

Installation takes about 10 minutes, your end-pin hole will need to be 1/2 inch which the local shop reamed out in 10 seconds for no charge.

I am very satisfied with this purchase. I rated it an overall 9 because of the price. But, it is made in USA
All components are gig worthy, professional quality.
It is made in USA but I think it is slightly over-priced (by about $20).
