OVERVIEW

A fuller and sweeter Tele sound.

The EMG-T is a two-pickup replacement system for Telecaster guitars. Designed with Alnico magnets, the EMG-T puts the EMG fullness and broad bandwidth into the Telecaster that it never had. The rhythm pickup (EMG-FT) has an outstanding reputation among all EMG pickups. All the elements are in the right proportion: magnet choice, coil size, amount of turns, and good luck have given the EMG-FT the sweetest sound of any EMG. Each of the EMG-T guitar pickups are fully noiseless without the typical hum, buzz or microphonic squeal.

The EMG-RT bridge pickup is much larger so its qualities are quite different than the FT. The EMG-RT has a fatter sound yet still has that familiar bite and clarity for that classic Tele tone.

dropped a set into a squier affinity about 6 mos. ago (build and quality are excellent, a little saddle and truss adjustment and i'm extremely happy with it, but wanted more from the p'ups) - the sound is very different than any stock tele i've played (old or new), so be aware that you are not just cleaning up the hum and squeal you've had to put up with before. bridge sounds thick and in yer face, neck is sweet and full. combined has a lot of the "quack" we love. the hardware sent is fine quality and instructions were complete, but if you're not used to p'up installs you may need some help. solid shaft pots so you may need to get knobs with set-screws. i was able to lay the battery in the control bay without carving anything. neck pickup size-wize is a wee bit fatter than a stock pickguard so you'll have to trim it. i used snubber tubing as a cushion and just screwed mine into the body cavity, and took off the pickguard. the butterscotch color of the body looks good against the black p'ups i think. bridge pup fits right in. it really is a shocker to play with zero background noise or microphonic sqeal, i now get great sustain and harmonics i want, when i want. very responsive to dynamics.

Buyer beware: These are larger than Fender pickups and just may require you to modify/route the pickup cavity for these to fit in. I simply cannot modify my Custom shop tele for these, unfortunately. I wish they would have made them so they could require no wood routing..

Comments about EMG-T Single-Coil Telecaster Active Pickup Set:

I have these in two telecasters. A Warmoth built and a Squire Classic Vibe. I have found that they sound more natural and vintage with the height set low as opposed to as high to the strings as possible like the directions say. The neck pickup has a larger footprint than a standard tele neck pickup. It required me routing the pickup cavity a little larger to accommodate the size of the pickup. On the Squire the cable routing holes to the control cavity were too small for the quick connect cables to get through and I had to make them larger. I do very much like the solderless system. Both of my guitars required some routing work to get them installed. They are very quiet and I have no issues with the tone. Just be aware they may not be just a simple drop in replacement on your guitar.

Comments about EMG-T Single-Coil Telecaster Active Pickup Set:

This is probably the 10th set of EMG's that I have purchased over the years and they sound great as usual. Installation is super easy due to the plug and play connectors.
I am a little disappointed with the pots though. The system comes with solid shaft pots, when every Fender I have ever owned uses a split shaft , so now I have to order new knobs for my Tele which should have been included, since they are supposed to be a drop-in replacement.
All in all, the pickups are great. Just bummed about the knobs.

Comments about EMG-T Single-Coil Telecaster Active Pickup Set:

So I receive this set few hours ago and OMG! this is amazing! Install took just 40-50 minutes for all.
Pretty simple to install without some problems.
When I plagued my guitar in my Amp i was happy. UNBELIEVABLE SOUND!!! Clean channel so sweet and soft. so deep.
And high gain (of course. this is EMG) so strong and clear. you can hear everything!
But novice guitarist maybe don't like it because it's hard to play clear with active pickups.
I'm really happy with that pickup set.
Thank you, EMG for great pickups and Musicians Friend for great price.

Comments about EMG-T Single-Coil Telecaster Active Pickup Set:

I bought this set to upgrade a no name Tele that was stable physically but had horrible sounding electronics. Result sounds truly amazing BUT I would NOT recommend this for anyone who has a valuable guitar or someone who doesn't want to do some intermediate carpentry and metalshop work. Obvious: I had to carve for the battery. Routed a hole in the back for that. Also had to drill out the wire paths because the wires with black notched pinouts did not fit anywhere. Not so obvious: Pickups didn't fit the pickguard or the ashtray bridge. Provided screws didn't work either, one set too large, other too small. Also not so obvious: Standard guitar knobs didn't fit the pots provided. One was a smooth shaft, one was a D shape. So to get two matching knobs I had to get the set screw kind from The Shack. Bottom line, the pickups sound incredible, lots of gain, lots of tone, no noise; at all. Perfectly hold their own, and replacing all the electronics meant no soldering. Just wish I knew nothing was going to fit out of the box. For those with Vintage Tele's; think twice.

Comments about EMG-T Single-Coil Telecaster Active Pickup Set:

These are really great. Active adds extra byte if you want, great clean Tele spank and beafy strat like sound if you want. They are in my 95 black American Tele. Sweet, I have vintage noiseless on my other Tele, love em both.

        Great Pickups

        By SuperSquidMonkey

        from Grand Junction, CO

Comments about EMG-T Single-Coil Telecaster Active Pickup Set:

One of the best sounding pickup sets I've ever heard. Pinch harmonics with these are so easy, and you don't lose that Tele tone. My only complaint was that after 27 days of owning these pickups the Bridge pickup went out. I thought maybe the battery had just died prematurely, but the internal wiring was bad in the pickup itself causing it not to get power. Musician’s friend was great and sent me a new set after I mailed them the old set, so I was only out of a guitar for about 2 days.

So far the new set is great, and to the quality I was hoping for.

        Perfect

        By Shipbuilder420

        from Santa Barbara, CA

Comments about EMG-T Single-Coil Telecaster Active Pickup Set:

I run my guitar through a clean PA amp so its not exactly a conventional setup. The original pickups on my MIM Fender Tele just sounded too punchy on the bass and the twang on the highs wasn't what I was looking for, especially for my ska/reggae rhythms. Enough said, the EMG T Set solved everything. Absolutely perfect clean or dirty, any style of music.

Versatility is the Ace in the Hole for EMG

Comments about EMG-T Single-Coil Telecaster Active Pickup Set:

I put the EMG T series pick ups in my Highway 1 Tele and I'm very pleased. Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend installing them in that series of guitar.I had to take the neck off to fit the pick up into the whole and the battery wouldn't fit under the control plate. After I getting it routed and set up properly, though, I was very pleased. Also, EMG forgot to include one of the wires so I had to call them a few times to see if I could get one sent to me.That being said. I was very happy with the new sounds my guitar was able to make. The neck pickup is so smooth and classy and the bridge has just a bit more beef than standard Tele pickups. Nice work EMG!
