The EMG HZ7-A is a 7-string pickup for guitar. The pickup is housed in EMG's 35 Extended bass housing, so it's not a direct replacement for a humbucking pickup. The HZ7-A is a dual-coil pickup with Alnico poles similar to the 85, with the same amount of output.

They are average

By Eric Klima

from Northern SD

Comments about EMG HZ7-A Passive 7-String Humbucker Pickup:

These pickups don't have anything too special to offer. They don't sound too muddy on the low end but they are weak on the high end. I can get a solid signal for solos. These pickups came stock on my Damien 7 Diamond Series so I can't expect much.

I recommend Seymour Duncans or DiMarzios instead (for the same price too)

DO NOT BUY

By Thundercrafter

from Georgia

Comments about EMG HZ7-A Passive 7-String Humbucker Pickup:

I played a Schecter 7 string equipped with these "pickups" and was totally displeased. They were dull, weak, had no character, and I couldn't get any sort of good sound from them even after trying the guitar through four or five different amps. Don't buy these unless you want to totally ruin them.

Crap

By UniBallin

from Shreveport

Comments about EMG HZ7-A Passive 7-String Humbucker Pickup:

DO NOT buy this pickup, the only good thing about it is it actually makes a sound. EMG has had a long history of disappointment, and this furthers that. The pickup is weak. Whats surprising is its still noisy while not have a high output. The only upside to it is finally there is a passive replacement for extended housing pickups, the downside is, you can't even stand to play on it.
