Emmenance Legend GB128 Amp Speaker

By miguel ramirez

from Portland,OR

Comments about Eminence Legend GB128 50W Guitar Speaker:

I couldn't ask for much more. I am completely happy with this speaker. I was going to buy a new amp, but I think I will wait now.
Bought to replace old '80s Crate solid state amp speaker. Wow....What a difference. Great mids with natural break up. Best sound I could get from a solid state amp. Wow.
Well put together. No flaws on mine.
I feel I got a great deal. There are other speaker out there 3 times as expensive. I almost went with a greenback, but I'm glad I didnt. For the price, this is a great speaker.

Eminence GB128

By Andrew Curry

from St. Louis

Comments about Eminence Legend GB128 50W Guitar Speaker:

I bought this one to replace a vintage Jensen C12R in my 1964 Gibson Falcon amp. Goodbye, icepick, hello balance. I like some "chunk" in my sound, and this speaker delivered that.
Features? It's a 12-inch, 8-ohm guitar speaker. Solder/spade lugs.
Quality, compared to what? I would not compare this speaker's build quality with a top-of-the-line JBL, Altec Lansing, Celestion, or ElectroVoice cast-frame unit, but it is very solidly built for its price point.
You get a good speaker for the money.

Great in the Crate (V 18 112)

By JM

from NorCal

Comments about Eminence Legend GB128 50W Guitar Speaker:

As the title suggests, I bought this speaker for my 2 year old Crate V-18. Now I like this amp, but it did have it's flaws, the most prominent being the fact that it can be very muddy, as well as having almost no clean headroom to speak of. The only thing I could do for it was use a Bad Monkey Overdrive as a treble/gain booster, but this effectively eliminated ANY chance of a decent clean tone. I liked the dirty tone, but that's all it's got.I decided to try this speaker, and WOW, what a difference. With no other changes to the amp, it suddenly has a versatility it never had before. Turning the gain down actually results in a wonderful clean tone that isn't quite Fender and isn't quite Marshall, but is it's own lovely thing. Now, the biggest surprise is that this not only improved the clean tones, it also dramatically improved the dirty tone. Where before I had to dial in a touch of dirt with the amp and push it with the Bad Monkey, now I have a full and rich range with the Gain knob all the way up the dial. It didn't change what I liked about it, but rather what I didn't like about it. Kicking in the Bad Monkey simply gives it another useful voice now.Overall, the tone is tighter, a little brighter, and overall more useful and musical. The amp is still just a touch muddy, but now turning the bass down and the treble up actually DOES something. I suspect a change to good tubes will only make it better.I'm not gonna blow smoke and say it turned this amp into a boutique-quality amp, but it did take it up several notches up the tone ladder. I would not have thought changing just the speaker could make such a phenomenal change, but it did.Highly recommend the Eminence Legend GB 128

Eminence speakers rock!

By Bravery34

from Louisville, KY

Comments about Eminence Legend GB128 50W Guitar Speaker:

I also have a Traynor YCV 80. This is a great amp but the stock Celestion 70/80's give it a lifeless sound. I bought a GB128 to try out and it made all the difference in the world. Because the speaker is 50 watts and the amp 80, the amp breaks up faster but still leaves plenty of headroom. The low end is rounded out and no longer cardboard sounding. I can actually use the drive channel; which I would absolutely avoid at all cost before. I'll probably by a second one to replace the remaining celestion. Excellent buy for at an excellent price!

AMP SAVER!

By Oldschoolsounds

from Georgia

Comments about Eminence Legend GB128 50W Guitar Speaker:

I recently put one of these in my crate v18, and it completely changed the way i feel about this amp! The v18 sounded muddy and the eq was pretty much worthless. I couldnt tell a difference when I made a change. That is until I put the GB128 in. It really livened up the sound and allowed the eq to do its job. The original crate speaker was crap that looked like it was plastic coated. This speaker made all the difference in the world. If you have a v18 i definately recommend the GB128.

this speaker just rocks!

By Max D

Comments about Eminence Legend GB128 50W Guitar Speaker:

This speaker was installed today in my fender hot rod deluxe limited edition wine red. The speaker that came with this amp was a celestion 70/80. My amp is like night and day! Best speaker I've ever used, and it's not even broken in yet! made in the U.S.A,. Made my hot rod's distortion come alive, and my amp's clean channel has that warm clean chime I've been missing. Wow!

Great sounding speaker

By Basscheez

from Cleveland

Comments about Eminence Legend GB128 50W Guitar Speaker:

I put one of these in a 2 x 12 cabinet (with a Legend 1258), and it sounds fantastic for everything from clean (Fender silverface Bassman) to scooped metal (Marshal MG100). I plan to replace the Celestions in my Marshall cabinet with 2 of these and 2 Legend 1258s.

Comments about Eminence Legend GB128 50W Guitar Speaker:

I bought 2 of these for a Traynor YCV80. I tried just one in place of the stock Celestion 70/80s and it made a huge differnce. The speaker mismatch actualy sounded great so I sold the other GB12 to a friend. It really warmed up the sound a lot. One year later and no problems.

Custom made quality at mass produced price.

Comments about Eminence Legend GB128 50W Guitar Speaker:

This speaker is designed for heavyweight players, but priced for metal kiddies. Great sound: it's just like "the classic British sound..." wink wink - "G.B.", get it? - like it says in the description, but with more of everything, including volume, balance, and versatility. This speaker has plenty of definition and clarity, but it also delivers characteristic rockin guitar sound when driven. Highs are clear w/o a hint of harshness. Bass is muscular but not out of balance. Works great with open back cab. At present this speaker is a sleeper big time; it will be an all-time classic.
