Punchy warm tone w/ controlled mids

By Tollund Man

Comments about Eminence Patriot Red White and Blues 120W Guitar Speaker:

Just like the title says - this speaker is very punchy and immediate. But it is not at all harsh - very smooth & warm mids with nice treble sparkle that is also warm. If you're looking for versatility, this is it. If you're looking for a huge mid bite, look elsewhere. For clean, it is second to none. For distortion, very controlled without any nasty spikes - VERY handy indeed and covers alot of ground from jazz to rock.

Eminance Rocks and Rolls

Comments about Eminence Patriot Red White and Blues 120W Guitar Speaker:

If your amp is lacking something and your not sure what to do , buy this speaker. I installed it im my Crate V50. What a difference. I am very happy with the results. I am not sure how to explain it better than to just say it adds a quality to the sound that makes your amp sound as if you paid hundreds of dollars more for it than you actually did. I will purchase more Eminance speaker in the future with no hesitation. Delivery was excellent and on time. thanks.

Put it in my Blues Deluxe....

Comments about Eminence Patriot Red White and Blues 120W Guitar Speaker:

I bought this speaker becuase Eminence recommends it as a suitable replacemen for Fender Blues Junior/Deluxe. I have the Deluxe and this speaker should have come stock. It fixed every issue I had with the stock speaker, the amp no longer sounds harsh on the gain channel, it gives me much more headroom and if I pluck the lowest note and the highest note on my SG at the same time they both are audible and clean. This is a great speaker.

Warm, Smooth, Wet, Sweet...the Red White & Blues!

By Tommy G.-_qjvh

Comments about Eminence Patriot Red White and Blues 120W Guitar Speaker:

It is a 12", 8 ohm speaker from Eminence's Patriot Series. Made in Eminence, KY right here in the USA. I play a 60 watt Mesa/Boogie Mark III 1x12 combo that I purchased back in 1987. I originally had a Celestion G12H-100 (British speaker; not Chinese) put in for added bite (it came with a Black Shadow speaker). I also purchased a Boogie ported 1x12 cabinet with an EV 12L. I?m also looking into replacing that speaker with an Eminence product as well. I wanted to replace the stock Celestion because it didn?t give me the tone that I wanted and it also sounded a bit ?brittle? to my ears. Since I play blues, blues-rock and jazz the Celestion just won?t cut the sound I want. I did a lot of due diligence (i.e., homework) and found out about Eminence speakers. I even obtained the recent write up in Guitar Player as well as made numerous phone calls to speaker retailers. I debated forever over which one to obtain reading the db/Hz charts at Eminence?s website. Al? at USSpeaker was incredibly helpful and earned by business. I told him my primary guitar is a Heritage 535 with Seymour Duncan Seth Lover humbuckers (tone to die for!). I told him I was looking for a blend of Robben Ford?s smooth syrupy tone and Larry Carlton?s sweetness but was worried about some speakers (like the Swamp Thang or Texas Heat) making my guitar sound tubby. He told me to look at the RWB or even the Legend 121. I asked about the Cannabis Rex and he said ?Not as your primary speaker; your 60watt Boogie may blow it!? Thanks Al! It came down to the Red, White and Blue, the Legend 121, and the Tonker. When I added that I wanted the Boogie to drive the speaker but I could use a little breakup, he finally recommended the RWB which I ultimately purchased. I could not be happier! The speaker has the four factors (?WWSS?) that I was looking for: warmth, wetness, sweetness and smoothness. It has such warmth to it that notes and chords seem to hug you. It has a ?wet? sound to it; not thick and syrupy like Robben Ford?s but seems to wash over you (like Clapton once said about tone ?diving into a pool of warm water?). It was a sweet sound in the mid-treble registers (?sparkle? is Eminence?s word for it) and it is smooooooth! The notes and chords don?t sound harsh at all (like it did with the Celestion); the notes seem to blend together and have a fullness to them. The bass notes are tight and have some good punch to it. It?s not ?heavy? or ?bassy? but enough to emphasize the notes on the lower strings in lower registers. All notes ring sweet and clear and are very pleasing to the ear. Overall - so far so good! Like any amp with a new speaker I still need to make minor tweaks to my sound. But - within the first 5 minutes I knew I was onto something good! It also sounds incredible at louder stage volumes too! (I had to beg my wife to leave the house for a couple of hours!). Looking forward to hearing it at my next gig!

Instant Tone Upgrade

Comments about Eminence Patriot Red White and Blues 120W Guitar Speaker:

I bought one of these to upgrade an amp I had, and I liked it so much that when I bought a better amp I took the RW&B's out of the old amp and put it in the new one. The difference between this speaker and the stock units is like the difference between listening to a studio performance versus a live recording. All the noise, hiss, etc. are just not there. The overall tone seems more focused and immediate, and this speaker can handle some serious power without breaking up. I've had the RW&B's in my main amp for about three years now, and I love it. It can be sparkly, but it's not harsh or thin-sounding. I would definitely recommend this unit to anyone looking for balance, clarity, and smoothness.

Comments about Eminence Patriot Red White and Blues 120W Guitar Speaker:

I recently bought a used amp, a 1983 Peavey Studio Pro 40. This is a solid state 40 watt amp. When I got it it had the original speaker, and I noticed a rattle from the cone. I figured it was a 30 year old speaker, So I chose The Eminence Red, White, and Blues as a replacement. Good Decision on my part. This amp sounds fantastic now. Great Clean sounds, It gets gritty with the amp overdrive and saturation channel, Then I can engage a pedal for full on distortion. Good all around speaker. I am glad I chose this one.
Great quality. Very well made
Worth the money in my opinion.

Comments about Eminence Patriot Red White and Blues 120W Guitar Speaker:

I bought two of these in conjunction with two Man O Wars (see my review on these), and criss-crossed the two types to get a nice evened out sound, which they do very well. The Man O Wars add a lot of warm low end to the mix, while the RWAB's smooth out the mid-range frequencies and add quite a bit of attack. I think they are quite amazing together. My tone has never sounded more full.

This speaker is great.Has it's own tone. The best I can discribe is that it growls,Very full sound but is not piercing. Some people compare it an EV 12L,I have one in another amp, This speaker is a little more mid range and distortion sounds better.I am considering replacing the EV with this speaker. It has a knarly sound.

High Quality Powerful Speaker

By Stringy D

from Cincinnati, OH

Comments about Eminence Patriot Red White and Blues 120W Guitar Speaker:

I got a Peavey Special 112 on eBay with a blown speaker. It is a 160 RMS combo amp. I put the Patriot Red White and Blues speaker in it. The speaker is every bit as powerful as advertised. It is balanced in tone, although a little heavy on the bass, but I think that is more due to the fact that it is a powerful speaker. Proper EQ brings out a bottom end you won't want to miss, whether you are a Jazz Player or play Metal. I use a Boss GT-8 into this amps clean channel and through this speaker and it is an awesome combination. There is an overall sweetness to the sound that makes you want to play and not turn away. There is a slight sponginess to it but better described as springboard punch that makes notes and chords shine. It sounds good on all volumes and the tone holds steady. I turned it up past what my ears could handle and it still didn't seem to lose integrity. I would buy this speaker again and wish I had the money to try more in the Eminence Line.

Comments about Eminence Patriot Red White and Blues 120W Guitar Speaker:

I switched out the stock speaker in my Fender Hot Rod Deluxe(HRD)with one of these speakers and HOLY MOTHER of TONE! These babies give you a Fat, warm bottom, extremely wide middle and a CLEAR sparklie top end that is unbelieveable for a speaker in ANY price range. This is a GREAT speaker for anyone interested in a warm sweet sound that covers Jazz, Blues, county, Classic Rock and everything in between. (as a side note) I put a Cannabis Rex in my auxillary cabnet and the pair working togeather reminds me of a smokey blues sound that takes you straight to Beale Street. God Bless Memphis! Elvis and Stevie Ray would be Proud!

Comments about Eminence Patriot Red White and Blues 120W Guitar Speaker:

I let a friend borrow my Epiphone Triggerman and he destroyed the stock speaker, but it was okay because it gave me a good reason to upgrade. While the amp is still solid state, I noticed an AMAZING improvement. It is a very crisp speaker and each sound is very clear. To my ears there seems to be a little bit of very smooth speaker distortion at high volumes which is nice. I am thinking about putting two of these in my Classic 50.

Replacement Experience

By Fishin Musician

Comments about Eminence Patriot Red White and Blues 120W Guitar Speaker:

I used Eminence speakers a long time ago and wasn't impressed. I use a Reverend Amp now with the extension speaker and the main speaker finally went bad. I was told to try the Red, White, and Blue speaker. "What a great speaker. i don't even use the extention speaker now.The Eminence is Fat and Clean. Just the right amount of distortion without fade. I'm impressed.

Fantastic Speaker!

By rck1979-z-ukO

from Columbus, OH

Comments about Eminence Patriot Red White and Blues 120W Guitar Speaker:

I replaced the Celestion Vintage 30 in my Carvin Nomad with this and what a difference. I had just about given up on the amp: ice-picky highs, muddy mids and flabby lows, I have always loved Celestions so I didn't believe that was the problem. I decided to try one of these just to see and it was like buying a new amp! Definition, focus, clarity - whatever you want to call it this speaker has it. If you're not happy with your amp, before spending hundreds to replace it, try this speaker. I doubt you'll be disappointed!

I finally replaced the stock Peavey Scorpions in my early 80's Peavey 160 watt Reknown combo a year ago with RW&Bs from MF. This is my main amp that I bought new,and even though it was in great condition and sounded excellent,I felt it was time to try an upgrade and these speakers make my amp sound amazing. Despite being solid state, the Reknown always sounded like it has tubes in it,and now it has incredible definition clean or distorted. I will always use Eminence from now on,I'm convinced!
