Comments about Ernie Ball 2204 Nickel Wound Medium Slinky Electric Guitar Strings:

Thick strings. If your guitar can handle them, buy them. I've tried all the major brands, and many different string gauges. I'll never use anything else. Tone oozes out of my Dean through my Crate half stack.

Comments about Ernie Ball 2204 Nickel Wound Medium Slinky Electric Guitar Strings:

I use these for tuning down to A (not drop A!), but NOT for playing djent stuff or super chugga-chugga lameness. I play more mid paced and fast old school death metal/grind with them, and they've held up well in the few weeks I've been using them. The next time I make a purchase for these strings though I may get one gauge lower (if they exist, I haven't checked yet) as I really wanted to actually tune down a step or two lower than A, and these on my guitar at least seem to have around A as the lowest I can go and still have them stay in tune well enough and not be way too loose. That does not mean whatsoever that these are not good for tuning down with, or will do not stay in tune! I gave them 5 stars after all and highly recommend them, along with any Ernie Ball product.

Comments about Ernie Ball 2204 Nickel Wound Medium Slinky Electric Guitar Strings:

When I started playing guitar a couple decades ago (yeesh! Has it really been that long?) I tried out a ton of different brands at different price points and the EB strings were always the most consistent for the price. Also they take a beating and hold your tuning very well. I have played a variety of styles (Grunge, Nu-Metal, Post-Metal, Death/Thrash, Black Metal) several different tunings. Dropped G open tuning, B standard, dropped C and D standard. The EB strings always feel solid and powerful never sloppy or rubber band like. They also seem to stay lively longer and have plenty of bite even after a week of shows on tour. Can't go wrong with these strings
