I mark them as a rating of eight, but generally it would be a ten. I usually buy these strings in three 3-packs (9 sets) and normally have no trouble with them. The previous nine sets I brought, about six sets that were of poor quality. Now, that is extremely odd. I've gone years without getting a bad set. I guess I just got a bad batch of strings. This time I purchased two 3-packs and so far I've put a set on my LP and my Ibanez and haven't noticed anything wrong with them. As noted, hopefully that was just a bad batch. I've been using Erine Ball for years. (previously Hybrid Skinkys, now Regular Slinkys)
Value wise, I have never played with a better string and for the price. It's a steal in my opinion.

Cost MORE to buy 3-pack. Good strings....Although the pricing offers NO savings when buying bulk.

Comments about Ernie Ball 2221 Nickel Regular Slinky Electric Guitar Strings 3 Pack:

I have used Ernie Ball strings for YEARS. I've been a professional musician since 1965 but can't remember when I first tried them. I think it was early 1970's. I had friend who worked at a Music Store and he gave me a set to try out. Loved them right away and have used them ever since. I have tried (off and on) other brands but always come back to Ernie Ball. When I was playing 6 nights a week, I used 12's or 13's but I don't play as much so I dropped back to the lighter gauge.

Comments about Ernie Ball 2221 Nickel Regular Slinky Electric Guitar Strings 3 Pack:

I've been using slinky's since they started making them (about a hundred years ago!) and they are always consistent, especially since they started sealing the packages. I've tried all the others over the years and for the money these are still the best for me. If you burn through a lot of sets and you care about consistant tone, these are the one's.

Comments about Ernie Ball 2221 Nickel Regular Slinky Electric Guitar Strings 3 Pack:

In my opinion Ernie Ball makes the best non-coated strings in the world. I've broken maybe 2 high e's in the 17 years I've used them. They have a very balanced tone that's suitable for most styles. GHS are pretty much on par with these, I didn't find much of a difference. D'Addario are just too bright and fragile. I've found that if you wipe them down with a cotton cloth after playing, these can last for at least 2 months with moderate use without corrosion or loss of tone. If you're shopping around for a new brand, or just getting started and not sure what to try, I would get a set of these first and go from there.
