OVERVIEW

These Evans drumheads are great for players who crave the response of a one-ply head but don't want to forfeit strength, tone, or consistency.

Evans' Power Center Clear drumheads feature graduated film thickness (10mm film for heads sized from 6"-12" and 12mm film on 13"-18") and graduated dot sizes to create a balanced sound across the kit. Like Evans' popular EC Snare heads, the Power Center Tom Heads use the same stress-relieved metalized dot on the underside allowing the replacement drumhead to flex and vibrate more naturally for an unchoked resonance.

Comments about Evans Power Center Clear Batter Drumhead:

I will start by saying these heads have great tone. However being single ply the thin metal power center piece is just glued onto the bottom of the head. Sometimes they are not glued on very well. After about 10 hours of playing over multiple sessions, one of the power center pieces fell off. I have played for about 6 more hours since with no other power centers coming off, although another one looks like the glue is about to give out. I think that if they made sure that the glue was evenly distributed throughout the power center piece and applied firmly to the head, that this would not be a problem. Kinda looks like they just put some glue on it and slapped it on the bottom of the head. However they are drumheads and need to be replaced somewhat frequently anyway. The tone is great though.

Looks great, sounds good, lacks durability.

Comments about Evans Power Center Clear Batter Drumhead:

I switched from EC2s to these on my toms (maple: 8",10",12",14",16") because I wanted to achieve a fuller tone without sacrificing a great deal of warmth to the sound. This is my conclusion:
8" - decent tone, but sounds choked (as 8" toms often do)
10" & 12" (w/ Evans E-Rings): sound great - good warmth & nice tone
14" & 16" (w/ E-Rings) - good tone, but lacks the warmth, depth & presence of floor toms

The worst part of these heads are their lack of durability, despite Evans claims that they boast durability comparable to a 2-ply head. Within a three hour playing session, the 8" & 10" heads had dented in a few spots. Granted I'm a "hard hitter," but it was within the first few hours of play & I use lightweight sticks. I've never had a problem with denting using EC2s or G2s. I'll stick with 2-ply.
