These are the same as the original strings that came on my Geddy Lee J Bass which I bought two years ago. I tried other types of strings but none could match these. In fact, I actually never played the others, just put them on, tried them, and took them right off. They last a lot longer than other types I've tried over the years on other basses and keep their tone and tune exceptionally well. And, they don't turn your fingers black like non-stainless strings do.
I've been using these for the last couple of years now. Right now they go on two of my basses; MIM Jazz with DiMarzio ultrajazz pickups, and Peavey Millenium BXP4. these strings can provide some real sizzle, or a real nice warm tone, all depends on technique, tone knob settings, etc.I've used all kinds of strings-GHS, TI, D'addario, and Rotosounds. Without a doubt, Fender strings are the best I've ever used. I have never broken one, and they hold their sound a lot longer than the other brands I've used, and the price is great.Great strings at a great price, you can't go wrong with Fender!
Quite simply put, this is the only string I use on my Geddy J-Bass. These strings give my bass the "growl" I bought this bass for, are not as buzzy as nickels are on the maple board and last for a long time. Very good for rock bass. Nice balance of treble and bass.
I have used just about every string on the market and do not claim to use these strings exclusively, however, for stainless steel strings these have a nice balance. The sound is great, not quite as harsh and trebly as Rotosound, yet not as deeply focused as say Dean Markley Blue Steels. They aren't compression wound like DR's but do not seem to be wound as loosely spaced as the fret-eating-good Rotosounds. Better than what I expected from Fender Accs.
