I have been shopping around for the right locking tuners since I bought my new MIM Strat about 2 months ago. I thought the standard tuners were adequate (much better than a Squier) but I really wanted locking tuners for our increasing show schedule. Here's the most important thing for you to know. If you have either an American Strat OR a Standard (MIM) Strat, these tuners will drop in with ZERO modification. They have a two-post system just like the tuners that came on the guitar. So you just use a 10mm socket and loosen the nut up top, then drop the old ones out and the new ones it.It took about the amount of time it takes to string a guitar with standard tuners to remove the old ones, install the new ones, and string them. And forget about the constant tuning afterward. These little guys rock! To restring, you just pull the string all the way through the post, clamp down with the thumb screw, clip, and tune to pitch. It literally takes 10 seconds per string.Get these!

I would recommend these to anyone who is having trouble keeping their guitar in tune. Very easy to install, very easy to use, and very dependable. They look and feel classy as well. I don't think I have to worry about my tuners getting lost or stolen, but if for some reason I find myself buying a new guitar in the future, I will keep these tuners in mind as a potential upgrade of there are any issues with it.
These are the first locking tuners I've ever owned, so I can't give you too much insigh on how they compare to other lockers. With that said, I'm completely sold on locking tuners. I don't forsee ever replacing these on my stratocaster, but if I ever pick up another guitar I will put a set of these in immediately. My strat was notorious for not staying in tune, especially if you tried to bend a note or use the tremelo bar at all. These tuners fixed those problems compeltely.
The metal is heavy and durable. They just feel solid. It's a matter of personal preference, but I really like how they make the headstock feel a little heavier-it balances the guitar a little more. The tuners are smooth but yet still pretty firm when the string is locked in, there won't be any accidental going too far with these.
I ended up paying about this price for a set of 6 when everything was all said and done, which I think is easily a worthwhile purchase (coming from a poor college student). With that said, I have not tried out any other locking tuners that were listed at lower prices, and I can't compare my tuners with those.

Comments about Fender Schaller Locking Tuners:
I have an Americasn Standard Strat,it was easy to remove the old and install the new tuners. Loosen the nut and back it off the re-install the locking tuner. just take care to install the new tuners with the longer posts in the 6,5,4 strings, and the shorter posts in the 3,2,1 strings. it took just about 5 minutes to do. this makes puttting new strings on a snap. stays in tune and looks great. you cant go wrong putting these tuners on your strat. enjoy!

Comments about Fender Schaller Locking Tuners:
I bought these for my 72 deluxe telecaster thinking they would fit right in the peg holes but they don't. I had to buy a drill bit set to expand the opening of each peg hole. If I knew I would of had to go threw all of that I would of went with tuners that had a nicer finish. These things really look ugly on my guitar but do hold the tune great with my bigsby installed on it. So it does work great when installed.

Comments about Fender Schaller Locking Tuners:
Just installed these tuners on my squier vintage modified jagmaster. Was very simple to install. Just had to drill a few holes for the little pegs on each tuner. Had a little bit of a problem getting the strings thru the holes. But did it. Now my guitar sounds great and stayes in tune. You won't be sorry if you buy these tunes. Can't wait to get the money to buy two more sets.

Comments about Fender Schaller Locking Tuners:
I have 2 sets of these. the first I bought for a "PartsCaster" I was building. I liked them so much i got a set for a MIM Strat that i bought and modded.
they made a huge difference in the strat as far as staying in tune. the factory strat tuners seemed to have a bit of slip to them, making staying in tune difficult.
A few reviews here said they didnt fit the MIM strat. they do,but with a little work. At first it was too tight of a fit to get them to seat properly. i had to get out sand paper and run a few passes through the inside of the holes on the headstock. this fixed the issue and they installed/functioned without a problem.
Dont listen to the guys that open a package and think there is a defect with the product becuase it doesn't fit their guitar perfectly right away. Even with manufacturing standards, machined wood is always going to have some variance in its dimensions. Humidity, temperature, and elevation will all play a part in that. it might take a bit of sand paper or lithium grease to get things to fit properly. Just the nature of the aftermarket beast.

Comments about Fender Schaller Locking Tuners:
When the tuning keys arrived they had shaken out of the container. They are numbered but not as you
would expect. I would recomend numbering the parts
1 thru 6 and include drill bit sizes and instuctions on installation. Fender and Musicians
Friend were not much help.
Comments about Fender Schaller Locking Tuners:
Overall I say if you play a Fender or a Fender clone you're an idiot if you don't buy these and install them.
This is one of the best purchases I have made from Musician's Friend...after several years of making great purchases here. These tuners are a must have especially if you have a Fender or Squier guitar.
Installation is as easy as pie, the tuners are solid and amazingly strong. My guitar stays in tune no matter what I do...if you're even remotely thinking about getting a set of these, I'm telling you...DO IT!!

Comments about Fender Schaller Locking Tuners:
Bought me a set of these for my 2000 MIM Strat, after reading all the rave reviews. It seems i have gotten a bum set. While they looked great and installation was a breeze,i noticed after installing them there were 2 different size post on them. 3 of one size and 3 of another. I also noticed after tightening them up there was no way the strings were gonna completely clear the nuts as the string holes were barely exposed. I discovered these locking tuners would not work on MIM Strats. I read several of the reviews concerning MIM Strats and they were all good. What gives?

My Kramer Pacer is not equipped with a Floyd Rose, and at the time I was looking for something a little more in my budget to add to my guitar, in hopes that the tuning would stabilize. I went to my local music store and I looked at these. I was kinda doubtful at first, but I took a risk and picked them up anyway. I took them home and opened them up to find that there were two little metal rods on each individual tuner, that requires small holes on the back of the guitar. Well, I don't really care how my guitar looks as long as it does what I want it to. So I took out a drill and put the holes there. After getting the tuners bolted onto the neck, I strung up the guitar with EVH strings and locked the tuners in place. As usual, the strings needed to be stretched out, but as soon as the strings were broken in, the tuners did their job. I also put a Planet Waves Lubrikit on it to just put oil on the spots of friction, up and down the neck and guitar. Well, after the strings have been worn in, the tuners have been amazing. My guitar stays in tune all the time now, except for once in a blue moon when I will just abuse the whammy bar. If you have a guitar that is coming out of tune and you don't have a whammy bar, pick these up and your problems will be solved. If you have a guitar with a whammy bar and it comes out of tune, put some of these on your guitar if you know how to use the whammy bar. If you don't know how to use the whammy bar properly, you should probably look into buying a Floyd Rose.
