OVERVIEW

The end of all tuning problems!

Brushed-finish Fender Schaller Locking Tuners provide solid tuning stability by clamping the cut end of the string with a hand-tightened lock screw. There's no play in the string and you tune normally. A great way around locking nut systems that don't allow tuning on the fly. Highest quality manufacture, Schaller Locking Tuners are the same tuners used on Fender American Deluxe Series guitars.

FEATURES
  • Brushed finish
  • Super-high quality
  • Great tuning stability
  • Tune on the fly
  • Same as on Fender's American Deluxe Series

Tuning nightmares? End them forever with genuine Schaller quality.

The tuners did come jumbled and not secure. They might want to use twist ties to hold them down Fender/Schaller. These are staggered! They are all the same height but the position of the string holes are different the top 3 are lower and the bottom 3 are higher. Attention to all with vintage style(7.25 radius with kluson style) necks. You will have to drill to make them work. The holes sizes need to be 25/64" bottom of the hole and 11/32" on the top. Yes its odd but if you don't feel good doing always let a pro do it.

I purchased an Eric Clapton signature strat a year ago. It's modeled after a vintage strat like Blackie. I love everything about it except the Gotoh vintage tuners, which make changing strings a frustrating task - at least to me (I know other love them).I read all the reviews and they all commented on how these just "dropped" into strats - but I guess I must be the first person to try this on a vintage strat. I found out that the peg holes on the vintage headstocks are too small to fit these (you need a 10mm opening) so I took my EC strat to my luthier to have the holes enlarged and these tuners installed. When I called him, he said he couldn't install these tuners because the threads were defective - some couldn't be screwed on. Sure enough, two of the tuners had defective threading and I had to return these. So beware - if you have a strat with vintage tuners - these (and the other locking tuners) will NOT fit without drilling.

Comments about Fender Schaller Locking Tuners:

These were a bit tight installing on my 1987 Fender American Standard. Once I pushed it in as far as I could, I put the Nut on and wrenched it the rest of the way. No problem.
I could see thru the string hole at all on all six tuners, but I was able to put the string thru on all six, tighten the back screw and tune on.
I am pretty sure I would buy again.

Comments about Fender Schaller Locking Tuners:

The tuners came w/o any instructions at all. I had to put them on 3 times because I did not notice they were staggered in height. Proper numbering on the manufacturers part would have helped ;-) Nice weight to them and they make string changing a breeze. Mt Strat stays in perfect tune much longer with these tuners.

Comments about Fender Schaller Locking Tuners:

After I finally got all six tuners installed I noticed some were staggered. No instructions in the packaging to tell you the lower holes go in the top of your headstock & the lower holed pegs go on the low pitched strings. So I had to re-install them all over again. So no instructions and very poor packaging as the tuning pegs were all loose as another customer had stated.

These tuners gave my strat more of a full sound and with them being a locking head tuner I can use my quiver/whammy/cry stick or bar what ever you want to call it. It allows me to use it and still stay in tune. I like them a lot and I would recommend them to anyone

Comments about Fender Schaller Locking Tuners:

I like everything about these tuners except the installation. I used a specially designed stepped bit to drill the holes in the head. There is no stepped reamer available but the tuners require reaming after the holes are drilled. If they are not reamed, the tuners will not seat fully. There also is no drilling diagram or any other type of information provided. Drilling for the two pins on the bottom of each tuner was tedious.

If you're replacing existing tuners, you may not have these problems. But if you're installing these in a previously undrilled head, you'll have your work cut out for you.

I recommend these tuners for every application but installation in a new head.

Comments about Fender Schaller Locking Tuners:

I'll come right out and say it...I hate changing guitar strings!! Takes away from my playing time. My first set of these tuners came stock on the Jim Root strat and cut my string change time in half, so I ordered these for my American standard Stratocaster. They are pretty easy to install, although they DO NOT come with any Instructions!! I noticed that the backs of the tuners had notches on them...1-4, And when I took the tuners off of my strat...they are numbered..1-4 but I could not figure out the rhyme or reason for it. I just looked at the size of the holes...3 small and 3 large and did it that way. I would however recommend using the proper tools(socket or fitted wrench). I installed mine using pliers and well...maybe not a good decision, But I was also a six pack of tall boys in when I installed them!!

Put these on a MIM Tele and they popped right in. Stays in tune better and they look pretty sharp. No alterations needed for late model Fenders.

I have an Americasn Standard Strat,it was easy to remove the old and install the new tuners. Loosen the nut and back it off the re-install the locking tuner. just take care to install the new tuners with the longer posts in the 6,5,4 strings, and the shorter posts in the 3,2,1 strings. it took just about 5 minutes to do. this makes puttting new strings on a snap. stays in tune and looks great. you cant go wrong putting these tuners on your strat. enjoy!

I bought these for my 72 deluxe telecaster thinking they would fit right in the peg holes but they don't. I had to buy a drill bit set to expand the opening of each peg hole. If I knew I would of had to go threw all of that I would of went with tuners that had a nicer finish. These things really look ugly on my guitar but do hold the tune great with my bigsby installed on it. So it does work great when installed.
