    MIM Strat replacements

Why not a 10? Just because nothing is perfect. These pups may be too bright for some. I had to back off the treble on my Super Champ XD from 5 down to three.
Wow! What a difference. No comparision to the original mim pups. I don't play with a lot of gain so as for noiseless I can't really say, but the tone true Fender.
Price killed the competition. I wanted to replace the harsh stock pups of my 2003 mim Strat and didn't want to break the bank. These SCN pups are perfect. They are high quality, crisp, clear and dirty up nicely.
Great Value when you consider that most Strat sets go for more and here you get noiseless.

    Not good with Ash body

    By John Richards

    from San Francisco

These are not really Fendery. They're like a hybrid between Fender and Gibson, which is OK if that's what you want. I've gone back to Custom Shop 54's and Sliders 57's.
These are very disappointing, especially with the Deluxe Ash Strat. They have very wide dynamic range, so they are great for solos with distortion. The more you dig in, the more grit is in the tone, but it is not really Strat tone. All three are humbuckers, not single coil. If you want aggressive humbucker tone, you can get it, with a Fender bent to it.
Well made and strong consistent sound.
You can do way better for less.

    Review

    By Marc-2Ep5O

    from Willoughby, OH

I've done hours of research...I just can't tell you how serious I was in chosing new pickups for my 2009 Fender Standard Strat. I had SCNs professionally installed and had the 5 way switch, volume and tone pots replaced with Fender standard 250s and it sounds amazing! If you buy these let the pros install them and spend the money on new internal wiring. You don't need a more powerful volume pot. These pickups provide authentic Fender chime, quack and bell-like tones. The bridge is powerful and even sounds like a tele. I loved the out of phase settings prior (due to the hum canceling really), but NOW I love settings 1, 3 and 5. Truely amazing and completely silent through a heavily overdriven amp. I'd buy these again in a heartbeat! Thanks, Custom Shop.

    New N3 pickups

    By Jeff-uYs4x

    from San Francisco, CA

The latest American Deluxe series featuring new noiseless N3 pickups put and end to this debate over SCN tone. As Fender himself acknowledges ?N3 pickups represent a welcome return to the warmth and clarity of alnico magnets? Check out the new Deluxe models and you will never return to old SCNs

    SCN's ARE an Upgrade!

    By Jammers5

    from Mount Pearl NL

Y'know I have seen a lot of mixed reviews on these pup's which made it very confusing when making an upgrade decision. I have a '93 American Standard and the stock pickups suck! In the end I pulled a HSS Deluxe Strat off the wall at my local store (sidenote: what an absolutely gorgeous Strat in terms of feel and build quality!) and although I have a SSS configuration, based on the sound of the Deluxe. Here are my thoughts:1) These pickups are an HUGE upgrade over the dull lifeless stock pups. No question.2) Whoever says you can't get a traditional strat sparkle and quack from these pickups ain't trying. This pickup really shines, especially with my Blues Junior, it has the it in spades!3)The gain sounds are great as well. Not no where near a humbucker, but I didn't want or need that, so I am very happy with them. Sounds awesome with my newly acquired Tone Hog Green Gremlin Overdrive!4)These things are dead quiet. I mean DEAD QUIET!

    Have in my strat

    By XNRXKNnQ7

    from Cincy, OH

Well, after reading the reviews from other people i thought i would chime in with my take. These pickups work well for me. I'm a les paul player and have been for awhile but i wanted another sound so i bought a strat with these pickups in it and i was floored. This is by far the best sounding strat i have ever heard and it has me putting down my tried in true more often than not these days. Not only do i love the subtle overtones these pickups produce but they take a little bit of the ice pick highs out of the strat single-coils and make them smooth and singing. Pretty much everyone who plays this guitar now loves the way it sounds and offers to buy it off me if i want to let it go. I can see why these pickups might not be for everyone but Fender puts them in their high-end guitars and i would guess they know more than most everyone else about THE strat sound. Anyways, for $150 new, you can't go wrong. buy them, if you dont like them, sell them and you won't be out much at all... have fun and good luck on the tone quest!

    Big change from normal pickups

    By R.J.M.

    from GA

These pickups came stock on my American Deluxe and I immediately liked the sound. There is no innate hum and the bridge pickup doesn't generally sound thin or tinny. As for the debate over 'classic fender sound,' I would have to say they don't fall perfectly into one category or the other. Admittedly, I was disappointed by the clean sound as it didn't feel clear or sharp, but that was playing on my fender deluxe 85 solid state amp, and the clean channel has been blown out on it for years. Then I tried an American Deluxe (w/SCNs) on a Fender Hot Rod tube, and I couldn't have asked for a more crisp sound, so I'm going to blame my old beat up amp. Rest assured, you can get "chimes" or "bells" out of these.I would consider normal Strat pickups to be more blues, these pickups lean more towards rock, but still have what I would call the signature Strat twang. I think they fall between standard sound and a Fender desire to compete on thicker tone with the Les Paul. As someone whose first guitar was a Mexican Strat and loved it, but wanted a slightly meatier sound, these are perfect for me.

    Good Mercy

    By jonobroom16

    from Spanish Fork, UT

I bought these when building a strat because a friend recommended them to me. I love the sound. It is a true strat sound. I play old classics and these are exactly the sound I was looking for. I couldn't be happier with them.

    True Strat Tones plus

    By Georgeatt

    from Central Illinois

I dont agree with the couple of reviews stating that these Pickups are not true to their defintion of a Strat sound. Sorry people but these are among the best sounding Strat sets out there - very dynamic with bell like tones as well as full like a humbucker. Of course, this is in my 2008 Stratocaster Deluxe with S-1 switching. I also had put in a custom made neck made out of quarter-sawn flame fiddleback maple topped with a brazillian rosewood fretboard. The sound occupies my days - I'm never bored playing that thing.
