I definitely love the retro look of this thing.
The shoulder pad can be removed if you want an even more retro look; but make sure your shoulder can handle the weight of your guitar with that thin of a strap.
There is plenty of strap there to work with (for me any way) to run the top of the strap all the way up to the headstock on an acoustic comfortably.
WHY IT GETS ONLY 4 STARS:
The down side on mine is, I feel the button holes are a bit larger than they need to be...so might wanna get some rubber strap locks (washers).
I leave my strap on when I put the guitar in it's case (to avoid widening the button holes even more), so I have to lay the buckle over the strings so it doesn't scratch the guitar.
I'm willing to put up with that, because I like the looks of the buckle.
If you're looking for a way to ad a little more eye appeal to your guitar (especially acoustic), grab one of these...people will notice.

Here's my first impression, "this thing looks cheap", for $5 more I could have gotten a much better strap. My second impression, "this thing is short!". I'm 5'-10" and at the longest setting my Les Paul is just below my chest! And it's only black in one side, which I expected, but I just thought I would reinforce it. Well, anyway that's my take, so, I'm returning it.

Comments about Fender Standard Vintage Leather Guitar Strap:

This is a GREAT STRAP. It really fits well and is very comfortable. Shoulder pad is great for my Heavy Vintage Les Paul and my Heavy Vintage Telecaster. I like the vintage tagged looking buckle on it too. I have bought 3 of these straps for different guitars. The oldest strap is 3yrs old and is not worn at all. Looking for a great vintage strap... Here it is.

                  NOT SO GREAT

Comments about Fender Standard Vintage Leather Guitar Strap:

very thin low quality leather. Thought it might have come from china. a bit sad that it's a usa fender product.
I can't imagine that it would hold up for very long. No reinforcement over the button holes.
But for the price I guess it would work for awhile. Best to spend a bit more on a better built strap.
Perhaps the more expensive fender vintage strap is better built.

                  Perfect Fit For Me

                  By Matthew Hylton

                  from Glen Burnie, MD

Comments about Fender Standard Vintage Leather Guitar Strap:

I like this guitar strap so much I had to buy 2. 1 for my electric & 1 for my acoustic. I have tried others but the straps where too wide and would dig into my neck. Since I am a large guy and have a weird shap to my shoulders & neck this thin vintage strap does the trick. I even removed the should strap and it feels so comfortable that I could play for hours, Thanks MF for carring this.

                  Fender Retro Strap

                  By Brian Miller

                  from Northwest USA

Comments about Fender Standard Vintage Leather Guitar Strap:

My late Mom's 40s 16" all solid/carved top acoustic archtop has been my #1 practice and big band rehearsal guitar for 15 years. I recently put a K&K archtop pickup in it for big band performances and I wanted a retro style strap for it. There is no strap button on the neck heel so it needed to be long enough to wrap around the headstock ala Wes Montgomery.

This inexpensive Fender Standard Vintage strap is almost perfect. It is just long enough to wrap around the bottom of the headstock and holds the guitar where it would be if resting on my thigh while sitting down. If it were 8" longer so I could wrap above the E tuners it would be totally Perfect. The button hole in one end had been stamped but not finsished so I had to use a pair of kitchen shears to open it up so I drop a point for workmanship and QC. I measured where I wanted to connect the end around the headstock and used an ice pick and turkey fork to punch a hole big enough for an old gold cuff link with an onyx gemstone. Totally cool! and adds a classy look to my treasured old archtop.

Good vintage strap for vintage guitar

Comments about Fender Standard Vintage Leather Guitar Strap:

I needed a long strap for my 1963 Harmony Archtone 1215, and this fits perfectly. It needs to be long to tie on at the nut and at full length places the guitar exactly where I play it.It's a bonus that the strap looks like I could have bought it when I bought the guitar new back in the mid-sixties.I can't say it would be comfortable playing my Les Paul standing for long with it, but people used to back then. Might be why super-wide straps were invented later. For accoustic guitars that tie on at the nut, and if you want an original vintage look, it's perfect, and a bargain.

Comments about Fender Standard Vintage Leather Guitar Strap:

Unless you like your guitar hanging down at your knees, this might not be the strap for you. Additionally, despite being made in the US, this strap is of very poor quality. The leather is very dry - the top is a plastic sheen.Fortunately, I wasn't expecting much, given that it was so cheap. I punched a few new holes and it now sits my guitar at a respectable height.
