This chocolate brown strap looks great, especially with the red finish of my Gibson 12-string SD. This guitar is quite top-heavy and needs a wide, solid strap or it will pitch downward into the substrate or slide off your shoulder when you're not looking. I had a great 2" Gibson nylon web strap but it was too narrow and the guitar dug into my flesh. I would prefer a stiff, thick leather strap like the tooled Levi straps I have for my Telecasters (see reviews) but they won't fit into the Gibson case. The Gibson case is too shallow to let a thick strap lay on the top of the guitar when the lid is closed. There is space under the guitar at the neck to roll up a strap but stiff Levi leather straps won't roll without the being ruined.
Enter the Franklin 3" strap. It is wide enough to hold my guitar without straining my neck, the back is rough enough to keep the guitar from sliding forward or off my neck, and the chocolate color looks good with my red guitar. The Franklin is so supple that there is no problem rolling it up and stuffing it in the space between the body and the neck in the Gibson case. I enjoy playing my guitar even more with this strap. An extra benefit: since my neck is usually sunburned in the summer, the soft inside of the Franklin strap doesn't irritate it.
Caveat: The strap is also soft and supple around the holes which go around the strap-holder buttons. Fortunately, I swapped out the big Dunlop buttons for the dinky stock Gibson buttons and I think it's unlikely my guitar will take a nose dive into the pavement. However, I'm also working on a split plastic washer to insert between the button and the strap for extra security. I'll let you know how that comes out.

This is a high quality and extremely comfortable strap. However, there are only three holes to feed the strap through for adjustment purposes. If you find that the strap is still too long after adjusting (such as in my case), your left with 5 notches on the bottom end where you connect your strap lock or strap button to. To make my strap fit properly (I'm 5'9"), I have to keep my strap lock on the third notch away from the end. As such, I have a 5 inch strap tail (for lack of a better word) hanging off of my guitar. For those who may potentially be bothered by this, you may want to look for a strap that doesn't rely on this secondary means (i.e. the 5 notches) of adjustment to shorten the length.

This strap is on my Les Paul and feels so soft and comfortable. It is wide and long and supports a heavy guitar very well with Dunlop Strap locks.

Good strap, not as dark as I expected.

Comments about Franklin Strap 3" Chocolate Leather Guitar Strap with Gold Stitching:

I ordered the chocolate brown strap and it arrived in three days. The strap is very soft, yet durable. It is a bit long for me, but that has nothing to do with the actual product because it states the length on the description. The strap is not as dark as the picture shows. To me, it is closer to milk chocolate. I would order the black, but I do not want the red stitching. I will keep the strap because it is a good quality product, just know that it is not a "dark" brown strap.

        High Quality, Comfortable Strap!

Comments about Franklin Strap 3" Chocolate Leather Guitar Strap with Gold Stitching:

This strap is the most comfortable one I've ever tried. The leather is very soft and the suede back provides friction, which helps to keep the guitar in place. It's quality materials and workmanship in a simple, no frills design. (The chocolate (dark) brown looks great!). You'll wanna wear it even after you put the guitar away!

        Quality and Comfort

Comments about Franklin Strap 3" Chocolate Leather Guitar Strap with Gold Stitching:

I ordered this strap for use with my vintage sunburst ES-335, and the deep brown color with contrasting stitching looks like a million bucks with this guitar. The 3" width is very comfortable on your shoulder. The leather is extremely soft and feels instantly broken in, like your favorite leather jacket. The quality of the leather and workmanship is excellent. I only deducted a hslf-point from the overall rating because the body of the strap is quite long, and the endpiece (for length adjustment) will require modification for shorter players like myself. With straps like this, I have a shoe repair shop punch extra length-adjustment holes in the endpiece if needed, then trim and restitch the end. I have had this done with quite a few of my straps, since I prefer all-leather straps that have no metal or plastic parts. Once word gets out on these Franklin straps, they should give Levy's a run for their money.

Comments about Franklin Strap 3" Chocolate Leather Guitar Strap with Gold Stitching:

The leather and the suede that they used for this strap look and feel amazing. It's glove soft and has that already broken in feeling and it just molds right to your body. The strap is nice and wide and distributes the weight of your guitar very evenly and comfortably, and the leather is soft enough to be it's own cushion. It's very comfortable to wear.

The downside is the suede. While it, too, feels amazing, it has a lot of friction to it. It will grab hold of your shirt and the weight of your guitar will pull your shirt around as you play and as the guitar shifts position. I wound up just reversing the strap so the chocolate leather is against my body, and the suede side shows. It still looks great, and now the strap slides easily over my body without pulling my shirt over my head.

...or I could just play bare-chested. Then that wouldn't be a problem any more. :)

simply put, this is hands down the most comfortable strap i've ever owned. i play a top-quality a/e grand auditorium that weighs just over 4 lbs, and i could carry it for days on this strap without ever knowing it's there. and i love it's simple yet classy design along with it's strong yet soft construction. it's a keeper, all the way.

high kudos to mf for having the smarts to carry such a great item. i've been doing business with you guys for some time now, and i've never been disappointed. thanks & keep it up.

I use this strap on my new Martin. It is a awesome guitar strap. This strap is very comfortable it never slips while on your shoulders. It also has no hard pieces or plastic to possible scratch your expensive or vintage guitars. Get this strap. It looks superb. I'm a big guy and it fits me very good. But it adjusts to fit smaller people as well.

Thats why you have the "tail" and 3" wide strap. They hang lower and are heavier. The Franklin 2.5 ' wide caramel one is great for guitars. I have both.
