The new Furman conditioners now have one front-panel outlet, which is most helpful in home studio use when you want to try something out without having to climb behind your console to make a permanent connection. They have a very short chassis so access to other devices in your rack is not hampered. They last a very long time, are reasonably priced, so that is why I give them highest marks for overall value.
Recently added the Furman M-8X2 to my home studio where it does duty with a ten year old Furman conditioner once used in an amp rack. As my stack of studio components & devices grew I needed more power outlets. Most reviews of music related devices & instruments speak about the sound of a device. In the case of Furman conditioners, the lack of sound is the key. Less IS more. Most homes are plagued with flourescent lights, air conditioner motors, appliance motors, etc. that can really dirty up the electrical power to your sensitive recording devices. WiFi devices generate RFI as well as nearby cell towers. With the two Furman power conditioners, my recordings are absolutely free of any power-related noises. When I listen to recordings others have done in their home studios, I often hear these types of electric power induced noise, but not in my recordings.
While Furman makes very high priced devices, my two low-cost conditioners work flawleesly, and one has done so for ten years. Now that's quality & value.

If you are fine with hearing some buzzing through the speakers, then this is a good value. Otherwise, I am not impressed. I installed it and right away I could notice each and every thing I turned on that was connected to it. When I talked the the rep about having it returned, he was like, "It's just meant for speakers.." Why would it have 9 outlets then?
Anyway. Not impressed. I guess that's what I get for not paying for the higher quality gear. Everything else Furman I have ever used has been great.

Comments about Furman M-8X2 Power Conditioner:
Ordered the very basic Furman M8x2 Power Conditioner on Wednesday and on Friday was plugging it in. A very good unit to power a rack that does not require the lighting of the more expensive unit. Reliable and does what it's supposed to. Great unit!

Comments about Furman M-8X2 Power Conditioner:
This power conditioner did exactly what it was supposed to, eliminated annoying hum from a tube guitar amp. Have all amps and a mixer plugged into it for band practice. Will purchase another for live rig I am setting up.

Comments about Furman M-8X2 Power Conditioner:
I've been playing for 40 years, so I've come across just about every power problem there is while on the road and in the studio. This device will take dirty, fluctuating power (very common at bars and clubs), and provide consistent, power which will protect your valuable gear. I will never again plug into house ac without having my Furman as a buffer to my amps, pedals and P.A. When you go into a recording studio, make sure all their gear is filtered with a Furman or other like product. It makes a huge difference in your sound!!

great piece of gear! Eliminates those nasty sine wave spikes from dirty power. Provides more reliable performance from any piece of gear plugged into it...wireless mics, processors, in-ear monitor transmitters.
I highly recommend these for any rack application you might have!

Comments about Furman M-8X2 Power Conditioner:
It doesn't gid rid of all of the noise from old wiring, but enough that the guitar signal will cut through. I've only had it a couple of weeks and am now finding how big a difference it made since I am finding the noise that gets in, but a noise gate can fix that. Its a good starting point if you want to go rack.
Its 8 outlets of power conditioning...not much to it.
Gets rid of a lot of noise in my amp from old wiring in my apartment. Some still leaks through, but at least I can hear the guitar's tone.
Compared to all the other gadgets that do the same thing, this is by-far the one worth the money.
Comments about Furman M-8X2 Power Conditioner:
This is the unit to buy for rackmount power control.
This is a great little rackmount unit. Has 8 outlets in the back, one in the front. The back outlets have variable spacing to accommodate wall warts, but the unit is only 1 rack space so that feature is not super useful, but available nonetheless. The front outlet is very, very handy, particularly for live performances.
Great build quality, metal construction, well made.
It's a bit pricey for what's really a rack-mount power-strip. But it does provide surge protection. What would be great would be common mode rejection so that fluorescent lights wouldn't add noise, but alas not with this "entry level" unit. Still, it's very reliable and practical.
