Save Your Cash!

Comments about Gator Commander Bass Gig Bag:

Was disappointed in this entirely. A simple redesign and losing about a hundred bucks off the price would make this a very attractive buy. Also, try one locally before you buy if you are considering this.
Has plenty of places to stuff small items, dedicated pouches for 2 pedals and a pocket designed to hold a laptop. All sound like great features, but the reality is they are all too small. A redesign featuring one large pouch without the cargo pouch divisions would be essential. Could not fit a Sans Amp DI, Boss TU12 tuner, strap and 2-20' cables without worrying about everything getting smashed.

The backpack feature is ridiculous (and not in a good way). As others have mentioned with the straps being where they are, the bass strapped to your back enables you to smack your headstock into every door jamb, lighting fixture and low flying aeroplane you come across!
Bag is extremely well made. Padded everywhere and amply so. Would definitely take a beating for a long while.
Waaaaaay overpriced for what it is.

Really nice case, a couple of things i'd change

Comments about Gator Commander Bass Gig Bag:

Overall this is a really well thought out bag. I use it for flying (carry-on, not checked) because I like having a little more protection than a gig bag, but it's still streamlined enough that it (usually) doesn't raise an eyebrow on the flight attendants. (Tip - for domestic flights, always sit toward the back of the plane, so the overheads aren't full by the time you get on. For international there's always a coat closet you can stash it in). The main issue I have is that the shoulder straps attach very low, so it ends up being very tall when you wear it as a backpack. It's comfortable, but I constantly have to be aware of ceiling and door heights. The rain cover is kind of useless - it is hard to put on. I would remove it except that it is an integral part of the neck padding. I also thought the little internal pockets were going to be great, but they're buried so deep inside that they're not that accessible. The protection for the instrument is awesome though, and that's the important thing.
