I have two of these gig lights, both as free gifts. I keep them in my gig bag in case I need a quick light. They work fine for looking behind my amp stand to plug in my cables, or for adjusting the faders and knobs on the mixer in low light venues. These are not flashlights that will brighten up a room, however. Made out of plastic, these don't feel like they would hold up very well over time, but I have used my gig lights for almost two years now and they still work. I dropped one from about 4 feet and it still works. Low marks go to Value as you can buy cheap LED flashlights almost anywhere that are much brighter. Overall rating of 5.0 is based on free gift only. I would not buy one of these gig lights at full price.

A nice free gift.
Has 5 LED's.
Able to use 1,3 or all 5.
Crank on side to charge as it does not use batteries.
I give it an 8 because of the no batteries.
Made of plastic. If it hit the floor, well mine hasn't but you know what I mean.
I got this as a free gift. So thank-you.
But I wouldn't buy this. It is just not heavy-duty enough for going on the road.

Comments about Gear One Flashlight:

The three buttons for switching on different numbers of LED's seems a bit goofy, but the crank mechanism is good and the light is plenty bright!

Not worth the price

By Anonymous

Comments about Gear One Flashlight:

This is a nice little flashlight to have around, but it is not worth the price. I got several of these as free gifts and they all worked out of the box and after a couple minutes of winding the crank they will last all day. I left mine on for over 14 hours to see how long the "battery" life is and it was still on after 14 hours (dim, but still on). I gave up on timing it since I figured there's no way I would need it on for more than 14 hours at a time. Overall nice unit, but again the price is pretty steep for this thing.

Hey cool!

Comments about Gear One Flashlight:

I got this little guy for free with a power amp I ordered. Pretty cool that it doesn't use batteries, and has LEDs so it's pretty bright. The strap is rediculously small, and barely fits over my already small hands, but then it's pretty snug. It's a neat little toy, but it's up to you if you want to pay the price for a gadget.

Gig Light? More like flash light!

By QOUOhcadE

from san diego, CA

Comments about Gear One Flashlight:

This thing is so small and the light is so dim that you can't even see what your pointing at. The three switches to control the lights are ridiculusly useless. This thing is so fragile that if you even just squeeze it, it seems like it would explode. This thing is the worst thing ever. Maybe I'm exagerating but it's still a piece of crap.

Comments about Gear One Flashlight:

The only reason I gave this a 9 is the crank hand which you can charge the light, is a little light and could have been made a little better.
Nice to not have worry when the batteries fade on you.
Durable case and shape fits well in glove boxes, shelf's or other places
Great to have around in the car or house due to car breakdown or lights go out during storms.
Also, convienient in your guitar case for additional light when needed.

Very useful...

Comments about Gear One Flashlight:

I use this to light up my mixing board when I'm doing sound in dark areas. It's definitely bright enough. I wish it used a battery though - it has a wind-up re-charger crank on the side and I don't know how long the charge will last - it hasn't run out yet though. Cheaply built but it'll last - I dropped it and it still works.

Cool As A Free Gift, But....

Comments about Gear One Flashlight:

So I got this little toy as a free gift when I ordered a PA system. It's cool, I guess. A light that doesn't take batteries. Wheeee. The item itself is made well, but the light is very very weak. It's cool as a free gift, but I know I'm not gonna use it enough to make it worth the price.

Previous reviews mislead

By BlueCoyotl

from Medford, OR

Comments about Gear One Flashlight:

I don't know what's with the other reviewers. This is obviously not a high-tech, Cadillac-type product. It's a simple survival light that works for as long as it lasts without batteries and with a few simple twists of a hand crank. It is definitely bright enough for a car or home emergency, bright enough to read in a camping tent and bright enough to follow cables on the floor at a gig. I twisted the crank three full revolutions and turned on all three lights and they were still shining 2 hours later! So . . . yes, you get what you pay for, but this little guy has not only helped me, it's made many of my nephews and nieces very happy to receive a "magic" light. The price is right for what you get.

Comments about Gear One Flashlight:

I guess some of these guys don't know enough to crank the thing for one full minute before you use it. the thing wiil work almost all night then. It is almost as bright as any LED light I have. I too received it as a gift after buying a PA system and it is one of the most useful little tricks I keep in my gig bag. Is it worth the price? I don't know about that. You can buy a battery operated one for less..thats up to you. But it is a great little BRIGHT light!

Comments about Gear One Flashlight:

We received the Free GIG light when we ordered a PA. At first I thought it was battery operated. I was suprised and happy it is rechargable and has the LED's rather than filament bulbs. We used it as soon as we opened the box and started hooking up wires. We're real happy with it. It's SUPER for on and off stage use. Thanks! We thinks it's GREAT!!!!!
