These cables are a waste of money, totally unreliable

Features:

I kept ready so many good things about these cables so I finally broke down and spent the money for the pedal board kit.  The first few cables were fine then I started getting shorts in them. I would test them and find that the jacket connection was but the pole connection would not seat.

I followed the instructions meticulously being sure not to press down on the cable while I screwed the cap on the jack.

Quality:

Very  unreliable and difficult to assemble

Value:

Way to expensive for something that doesn't work consistently

Overall:

Useless

Features:

After over and hour I still don't have a useable cable.  I'm not inept.  I can wire up my own guitars and work on pedals and amps.  I have tried recutting, more pressure, less pressure, threading the end harder, lighter and nothing.  I will waste no more time and I consider this the WORST $80 I may have ever spend when it comes to gear.

I have done numerous cable comparsions and own cables from 15 different companies.  Pro Co Sir Tweeds are by far the best sounding and longest lasting.  I still have some Pro Co's from the 80's that still work.

Quality:

Can't tell since none of the cables work.

Value:

Wasted money.

Overall:

If I sound frustrated then this review is dead on.   I really thought that I would keep these in a my gig bag to do that "quick cable" if I ever needed one, but I need gear that works and is reliable.  George L's are neither.

NEVER HAD A SINGLE ISSUE!!!

I've never had a single problem with George L's cables... NOT ONE ISSUE, EVER!!! I bought a kit from Robert Keeley's site about 3 years ago. Ordered the 0.155" cable with gold right angle connectors and stress relief jackets. Took me about 30 minutes to make 10 six inch cables. Plugged in and that was it. My board has been taken apart and changed around dozens of times over the last few years, cables have been added and removed 100's of times, still no problems with sound or connectivity. My advice to all the folks who complain about how the connections fail or how difficult it is to assemble the cables... order a couple of George L's pre-packaged cables... I really don't know how anyone could complain about the quality and sound of these cables. Go ahead and A/B test George L's with any of the Hosa, ProCo, Core X2, Planet Waves, etc... really any mass-marketed cables that are available... you will hear a real, audible, difference. The only complaint I have is the high cost, which is well above any other pedalboard cable products, but I also priced out 10 custom made cables from Redco, using gold Switchcraft right angle plugs and Mogami cable and ended up $10 higher. Also, those "stress relief jackets", they certainly don't relieve any cable-to-jack stress. They're just colored covers, you don't need them, get them only if you're into aesthetics.

I have a rather large pedal board with a chain of between 10 to 15 pedals in series.  Prior to using George L's I had to remove pedals from the chain that I wasn't using because of signal degradation between instrument and amp.  With the George L's I get, to my ear, a perfectly clear signal to the amp with at least 10 pedals in series.  The sound is an absolute improvement over other cables.  The assembly is incredibly simple and straightforward.  Read the instructions?don?t strip the cable.  I do wish they included a few more ends and a little less cable as I have cable left and no more solderless  connectors; I rated value ata  4.  Yes, they are expensive, but consider how much you have spent on the rest of your equipment.  A single quality pedal will cost at least as much and will still sound of poor quality if you don?t use high-quality connectors and cables.  The fact is that a chain is only as good as its weakest link.  For me, that has always been with the cables.  I will NEVER use inferior cables again as the sound difference is amazing.  George L?s can only be described as crystal clear like the waters of a mountain stream.  I don?t have any affiliation with George L, its parent company or subsidiaries.  Save your money, buy these cables, and experience the feeling of discovering your instrument all over again!
