Comments about GHS L3045 Bass Boomers Light String:

I've been a bass player for over 30 years and done just about everything. Concerts to Clubs, practice to studio, jams to rehearsels... Over the years I've tried lots of different kinds of strings. I always end up comparing them to my Boomers and honestly, nothing ever passes the test. Doesn't matter the type of music, country, rock, metal, bluegrass and it doesn't matter the insturment, electric bass, fretless bass, acoustic bass (and I own them all) these are the strings. (I do use the flat wounds on my fretless) Save your self lots of time and money and just get the GHS's....

Comments about GHS L3045 Bass Boomers Light String:

I must be writing this review for new bass players because anyone who's been playing for more than 2 years has likely already tried out a set of these. As you probably know, light gauge strings are great for funk, slap, and high end growl. GHS Bass Boomers are among the best for that. Strings probably have more to do with your tone than any other piece of the bass puzzle. You need to try as many as you can to find your tone. Simply put, if you play bass, GHS Bass Boomers are one of the "standards" you owe yourself to try. I often get bored with my tone and change which strings I use. I recently switched back to the Boomers because I like their springy funky tone. Dig in hard for fat finger picking and slap away my friend.

Comments about GHS L3045 Bass Boomers Light String:

I used these strings back in 80's till the mid 90's and then switched to the 105's.I figured I give these a try again.Boy was I suprised!! It is the best sound ever .Emg pickups and a MXR compressor really work great with this set of Boomers.Slap, pick, fingerstyle, all sound balanced and even.Highly recomended!

Comments about GHS L3045 Bass Boomers Light String:

All through the 80's and beyond this GHS set was my set of preference. They sounded great. The price was right and they were above all consistent. Then something odd happened with GHS in the late 80's and early 90's and with this set. I began to experience sets with one or more strings that were dead right out of the package. I suffered along with that for awhile being loyal to GHS and hoping that experience would change. I would get a completely fine set but then the next set...lets just say it was a 50/50 chance that one or more strings would be dead and that was across all the sets I used for all my bass guitars. Being a professional musician I could no longer deal with buying several sets to get one good one so I made a switch and never looked back. A month ago I was shopping here on Musicians Friend and just for ya ya's I thought after all these years I would try another set of these from GHS hoping that whatever problems GHS had at one time had long since been corrected. When I received this set I put them on one of my jazz basses. I was thoroughly disappointed to hear that the "D" string in this new GHS set was deader than the one in the set I just took off. I could hear the difference before I even jacked in and when I did jack in it was even worse. What a shame. I used to love these strings and if it wasn't for this apparently ongoing problem (which I have not had with any other strings by the way) I'd still be using these. As it stands I might as well have rolled up the money I spent on these and smoked it! I ripped these strings off and put on a two year old set pair of Ernie Ball Extra Slinky's I had laying around but had never used. Funny they sounded great right off. Nothing dead there. What's up GHS?

        Great buy

Comments about GHS L3045 Bass Boomers Light String:

        Recommended.
Satisfied with their sound and feel. Good for solo work, things like pops and bends. Harder to actually slap than a larger string however but personally when I thumb it is more down/up strokes rather than the Marcus Miller school slap.
Great sound, stay in tune and they fit my 35 inch scale string thru bass.
Low price for bass strings for sure.

Great strings for the money. Made our church's relatively budget bass sound like my Fender.
