Got these in my Gibson Les Paul Classic and my Gibson Explorer and my 1990 Gibson Flying V and got one coming for a Dr. LaRrY setneck Flying V build I'm doing now. These are the only stock pickup I'm totally in love with ! They got huge power, punch, great harmonics and super for pinch squeals ! Chords smash your face and roll back the volume and it sweetens up nice. All in all just a perfect pickup for ANY style. I shred metal and fingerpick with these without any trouble. For the price and ease of swap, JUST GET ONE ! Topped off with a 490R you'll have a well balanced all purpous guitar I gaurantee ! Gibson and Musicians Friend Keeps ME rockin' !!!

The 500T came stock with my Flying V and it took me about 2 hours of playing to come to the conclusion that this pickup is garbage. It's way too hot man. Pickups should not be this hot because they kill the natural tone of the guitar with harsh, tinny distortion. The 500T is good for only one thing, and that's playing Metal. If you play with the gain all the way up in search of the perfect "chuga chuga" and that's all you ever do, then this pickup might be what you are looking for. Forget about playing anything clean or slightly overdriven, because it sounds like junk with a capital J. Having said that, this pickup does play Metal very well, almost as good as an EMG 81. Pinch harmonics are a cinch and sound good too. Unfortunately, I need more than just that. I need versatility and this pickup has none. I love the Flying V, but hate the pickups that come with it. I yanked out the 500T and went with some sweet 57 Classics and I can now produce some of the juicy tones you've ever heard.

Comments about Gibson 500T Super Ceramic Bridge Humbucker Electric Guitar Pickup:
Ok I've owned a few of these pickups before great for coil tapping,or straight up in your face loud use of a volume nob it tames easily I own charvels, strats, and kramers.have followed brown sound so decided to get an EVH Frankenstein pickup to replace a 500t,I have in a San dimas with it ,bad move it didn't have the deep punch and crisp treble just. Lot of sustain and real cracking type highs played it for about 4 hours and when my wife notice I screwed up a sweet sounding guitar I quickly moved back to the Gibson 500t to the bridge position sorry had to try always chasing tone but I think it's time too quit perfecting the wheel and play really missed it that bad in that short of time

Comments about Gibson 500T Super Ceramic Bridge Humbucker Electric Guitar Pickup:
This is a great pickup. Very hot, high output. Do be aware that installing this pickup isn't going to turn your guitar into a Gibson Explorer. There's a reason they're [$]. But it should be vast improvement over any stock pickup. I play almost exclusively metal and put this pickup in a Schecter C-1 Artist. I should have done this earlier.

Comments about Gibson 500T Super Ceramic Bridge Humbucker Electric Guitar Pickup:
I love this pickup for metal I get good clarity. I put this in the bridge position on my cheap Epiphone SG. I have no complaints. The pickup though is loud. Glad I bought this.

Comments about Gibson 500T Super Ceramic Bridge Humbucker Electric Guitar Pickup:
This is one my favorite pickups. It sounds powerful and will drive the front of a tube amp HARD! Not the best clean tone but you don't really get these for a chimey clean tone. Massive sustain and huge lowend. Cuts through like nobody's business!!
The high end can be a bit much at times so just adjust to taste. I prefer this to the EMG 81 because the 81 is just to generic IMO.
The review below that says "underpowered" is a joke. I have no desire to swap this out of my V and if I get a guitar with the 500T...I leave it!
Nails that early '90s death metal tone with authority!!
Comments about Gibson 500T Super Ceramic Bridge Humbucker Electric Guitar Pickup:
This is more expensive than some pickups, but you get what you pay for. The ceramic pickups will surely change the tone any guitar setup. This pickup is heavy music friendly, but it doesn't mean that you can't play this in other genres other than heavy rock or metal. With the pickup responsive to the guitarist picking and because it will produce different sounds depending on how it is wired, the 500T is an excellent pickup that has excellent value.
The 500T is a good pickup that has more bite than the stock BurstBucker that came with my Gibson Les Paul Standard. A lot can be achieved if installed with a Symour Duncan Triple Shot. The sound when wired in Series is definitely edgy. This is one of the best pickups I've tried, comparing it to a BurstBucker and two other Seymour Duncan models.
To be expected from Gibson and the price range of this pickup, quality is good. Wires are also good. Soldering the pickups gave me no problems. The tape wrapping the humbucker is cleanly done. There are no signs of imperfections, both its construction and its sound when playing.
From the edgy sound of the series wiring, you can get a softer tone by wiring it parallel. Splitting the coils to either side can produce a sharper than Fender tone. Split coils sound close to a bridge pickup of a Telecaster.
Comments about Gibson 500T Super Ceramic Bridge Humbucker Electric Guitar Pickup:
Overall, this pickup is a very versatile, and LOUD pickup. When it's clean, it gives a nice bright, almost glassy kind of a sound, and when it's dirty it gives you classic heavy metal bite, with fantastic harmonic response. Perfect for all styles.
A well-balanced pickup that gives you bite, punch, and clarity with great harmonic response.
This is a hot pickup, perfect if you love to play heavy metal as this pup will give you tons of bite and sounds utterly mean when playing through a dirty amp. Rolling back the volume, this pup really sounds brighty and glassy. It gives you face melting tone, but cleans up very nicely.
Keep in mind the guitar you have before buying any pickup, this pickup sounds awesome and bright through a shorter scale, nitro finish guitar like a Les Paul, but put it in a longer scale, poly finish guitar and it will sound different. But, that aside, this is a very versatile pickup that gives you nice and glassy clean sounds, and it works beautifully for classic heavy metal crunch, even when you drop tune, this pup will not lose its clarity.

Comments about Gibson 500T Super Ceramic Bridge Humbucker Electric Guitar Pickup:
THis pup came with a 496R in my 2008 Explorer, That combo allows me to do just about everything. I can sizzle, wail, roar, cry, weep, sing...you name it. I play through a Mesa Boogie Mark IV and these can handle all the gain the Boogie can muster and NOT squeel. I can stand right in front of my amps at high volumes in the lead channel with no squeel. So for those who have trashed these pickups, ignore them. They do not know how to use and amp nor how to play their guitars.
Comments about Gibson 500T Super Ceramic Bridge Humbucker Electric Guitar Pickup:
For what it does, it's perfect--that is, if you play high-gain metal with a lot of palm-muted E-string hacking, or if you need some clarity and sizzle when downtuning. I got this and its 496r brother in my faded Flying V four years back, and I started getting really sick of these pickups because, (a) I don't play modern metal, (b) I don't palm-mute, (c) I don't downtune. Since I don't have the extra cash to buy expensive replacement pickups, and I love my V, I simply removed the adjustable polepieces from both pickups and flipped them around with the slug-coils facing 'outward', in effect making them single-coils. Now they have all the bite and twang of tele pu's, but with the meaty crunch of P-90's when I dig in--sweet! If I need more gain, I'll just use my LPB-1. Problem solved!
Comments about Gibson 500T Super Ceramic Bridge Humbucker Electric Guitar Pickup:
Came stock in my Gibson Explorer and i just love it. So hot and full of gain. By the way the other guy that said he had the Gibson Explorer you should have expected that. The Explorer was and is produced as a rock and metal guitar. The Explorer is a Metal icon.
