Comments about Gibson Burstbucker 3 4-Conductor Wax Potted Humbucker Pickup:

These came on my Les Paul Trad Pro. I don't know why a couple people gave it such horrible reviews, I think they are pretty good. THey have that classic Gibson Les Paul "bite", and has plenty of treble. The thing is, for those who are complaining that it's annoyingly high and screachy, I disagree. I think simply lowering the tone on the the guitar, and adding some presence or mids on the amp allows me to have a great high-end tone with plenty of body and no shrill or annoying high ends. Anyway, I like them, especially when played together with the neck pickup... I'm a blues player and you can coax some lovely tones just on that middle pickup position.

Comments about Gibson Burstbucker 3 4-Conductor Wax Potted Humbucker Pickup:

I got this in the bridge position of my Gary Moore Signature BFG Les Paul and first thought my tubes were going till I plugged in my L.P. Custom & realized it was the pickup. It ohms out around 8.3K and the neck P90 is almost that high ? It's thin and gutless just not giving the same performance as other Gibson pickups. The other reviewers on here praising this must have never played a 500T or old T-top's because these are overpriced toneless junk. I have to work hard at pinch harmonics and even simple sustain till I'm frustrated & angry. Just pass on this one guys, I can't wait to replace this pickup with ANYTHING and make this Les Paul do what it's supposed to do, SING !

Comments about Gibson Burstbucker 3 4-Conductor Wax Potted Humbucker Pickup:

This pickup came im my Les Paul Traditional pro. Everyone who plays my guitar is amazed by how great the tone is compared to any other guitars we plug up. These pickups scream ! Plenty of treble and raw mids. You can also coil tap these which is very nice. I recomend this pickup to anyone who is a fan of EVH. Its just right for that type of jucy, screaming, authentic tone. Get it !

            Gibson Raw

            By High Fiver

Comments about Gibson Burstbucker 3 4-Conductor Wax Potted Humbucker Pickup:

It's the sound I want. Raw and gritty and meant for some edge. These aren't meant for someone trying to play something pretty and pristine through a Fender, they're meant for mid range heavy to full on metal. I wish more metal guitar players would give these a try, it would add a lot of life and personality to genre that's become as generic as the certain active PUPs they all use.
It's a humbucker... what else is there to say. You can split the PUP for coil tapping but I kind of hate that. I'd be just as happy if it was 2 conductor instead of 4 but a lot of people really the splitting options. When I want a good single coil sound I like to use a good single coil PUP.
Burstbucker 3's are the PUP's I put in most of my guitars and I've never had any problem with any of them. That's probably saying something too considering the amount of beer that I've spilt on them.
I give it a 9 on value only because they are expensive but I've yet to find anything I like as much and I've tried tons of PUPs.

            Not that classic gibson sound

            By Barry Moermond

            from Cincinnati, Ohio

Comments about Gibson Burstbucker 3 4-Conductor Wax Potted Humbucker Pickup:

Gibson should have never made this pickup in my opinion. Why strip away all the balance, body and warmth of the classic pickup and trade it in for high end screach? I tried but could not get a descent sound out of this pickup. All the amp adjustements and signal processing in the world couldn't make this pickup sound good.
If you're used to the fat warm sound of a classic vintage style Gibson pickup, don't buy this. I made the mistake of purchasing a Les Paul Standard with this pickup at the bridge, and all I got was a thin annoying treble sound with no balance - all high end. My LP has the coil tap feature, and when I pulled out on the knob, OMG, it sounded nothing like a LP or a Strat, but more like a guitar with it's nose pinched (if a guitar had a nose). The only reason I did not give this a 1 rating is because some people might actually like this sound (if you want your LP to sound like a Tely on crack). As for me, give me that fat, dark, smooth, warm tone of a Classic Gibson pickup any day of the week over this thing! I ripped this thing out and replaced the bridge pickup with a Classic 57 PAF, and it's like the guitar has been resurrected from the dead!
I can't really say the quality is bad. It's called a Burstbucker 3 after all, and it definitely delivers on the "burst" with all the treble - if that's your bag. Just not my cup of tea. Gibson doesn't make junk, but this pickup in my opinion, makes an LP sound like junk.
