Comments about Grover-Trophy 102 Rotomatics 3-Per-Side Guitar Tuning Keys:

Normally I cannot knock grovers out of tune for nothing, even on childrens guitars, but I have had a problem with an Epiphone Les Paul which is not even a year old. Other people have also had problems with their Epiphones. The new tuning keys did resolve this problem however Grover informed me that the 102c's Musicians Friend sent me are probably 14:1 gear ratio. They no longer manufacture 12:1. There was nothing on the package to indicate the gear ratio. Grover also told me the keys on the Epiphone are probably also 14:1. The keys were almost identical with a slightly different casting mark on the bottom. I did not have to resize the key holes and the screw holes were the same. I have played guitar for 50 years. It is always preferable to go to a lower gear ratio if possible. 12:1 or even 10:1 if you can find them. That means that one gear will turn one full turn while the other gear will turn 12 times depending upon the gear statistic. If you think about the gears on a bicyle,if the gears set one way it is easy to pedal. If the gears set the other way it is harder to pedal. The closer you get to that 1:1 gear ratio(gears of the same size) the harder it is to turn. If you have a tuning problem with your guitar go to a lower gear ratio.

I ordered a set of these to replace the low quality, rough feeling, unstable tuners that came on my Epi Les Paul 100. They dropped right in, look fantastic and work great. I highly recommend this product.

Comments about Grover-Trophy 102 Rotomatics 3-Per-Side Guitar Tuning Keys:

I bought an Epiphone Les Paul 100 as a practice Guitar and immediately disliked the tuners. Bought this set of Grovers and installed them in about 30 minutes. I was hoping they would just pop in the same hole whithout a need to ream out and they did. The existing tuner hole was .37" and the Grovers were .39" - the difference didn't matter on this guitar. These are great tuners and will last the life of any guitar you have and will hold tune with no problem -- not to mention a lifetime warranty. How cool is that? --Rock On!

Comments about Grover-Trophy 102 Rotomatics 3-Per-Side Guitar Tuning Keys:

These tuners did improve my guitar in terms of tunning. The olnly thing I noticed was that the description says they are a 12 to 1 ratio. They are in fact 14 to 1. Not a deal breaker but thought it should be mentioned...

umm i think these tuners are on my discontinued washburn bt-3 maverick series, dunno :P but these look alot like mines in the washburn, they can hold up intune pretty well, especially low tunings like B or A(i play a lot fear factory)but these do not hold very well for tremolo,(dunno,my guitar is used soo dunno how many years it has :P)but if youre into rythm guitar, then its good.

Changed out the Robot keys on my 2015 Les Paul with these...They fit perfectly, just line them up and drill small pilot holes and screw in the screws that are provided...Nothing to it,took me about 20 minutes.

Comments about Grover-Trophy 102 Rotomatics 3-Per-Side Guitar Tuning Keys:

Ok, I didn't have to pay for mine, I got them off a guitar that my cats managed to break. Stuck them in a jar incase I needed them. Then I bought an Epiphone Les Paul Special 2 for a very good price. After playing it for a while, I was not too happy about it not staying in tune well, so I decided to try swapping out the existing tuning heads for the Grovers. I thought it would just be a straight swap, but I needed to drill out the existing holes to get them to fit. It's easy enough to do, but you need to be careful not to split the wood. Once I got them in place and put some new strings on, it was like a completely different guitar. Definitely recommended as an upgrade for any guitar that has problems staying in tune.

I wish I would have gotten these first instead of switching bridges and the nut on my Gibson. These are heavy duty and the gears don't move around after you tune it which is the cure for a problem guitar. If you've got a problem guitar in your collection, get these. You won't be disappointed.
