Comments about Hamilton KB1F Trigger Symphonic Music Stand:

This is the note I sent to Hamilton. No reply to date.

1. the plastic bushing for the stand inner shaft is too loose. This allows the stand to jiggle around and creates an undesirable noise as well as a low quality feel.

2. The desk paint was scratched in several places. It was packed OK, this looks like a factory floor/handling issue.

3. In the tilt mechanism for the desk the machined outer lock nut, used to keep the thumb nut from unscrewing, is too long. The thumb nut can't be turned if the lock nut is screwed in until it bottoms on the screw. I have a lathe and just machined a couple of millimeters from the nut so it would operate as intended. If you don't understand what I mean, talk to the designer who did this.

4. Personally I don't like the rolled lip on the ledge of the desk. The lip keeps me from using the slip-on plastic shelf I have. I bought this stand because I liked the Hamilton stand I've had for many years which doesn't have this lip, but you apparently don't make this design any more.

On the plus side, the stand is a nice size and will work OK. The height adjustment worked well.

I probably wouldn't buy another one, based on these issues, as I think your quality control is not very good. Didn't anyone check out the design and fit before production?

    It met my expectations

Comments about Hamilton KB1F Trigger Symphonic Music Stand:

I have owned this stand for about a week and so far so good. It seems to be built well. It has a heavy weight to it. The finish is like a flat black baked on coating. The stand has a large foot print, a little too large in my opinion. When I first tried to operate it, it felt very hard to move it up and down until I figured out it had a trigger on the back that you need to press in to release the telescope. Once I discovered this the stand worked perfectly. I would recommend this stand.
