Very nice machines. They make it easy to get very accurate tuning. With an accurate electronic tuner like the Peterson Strobo tuners or Korg's Pitchblack+ (only the Plus version) you quickly realize any limitations in your guitar design or setup!
I also installed a set of the 21:1 Gotohs on another guitar. The ONLY drawback with the 21:1 Gotohs is that, as you might expect, you need to turn the keys a lot more to bring the guitar up to tune with new strings. But it's worth it if you need Super-Tuned accuracy.
These 18:1 HipShot tuners are a perfect compromise to meand they look so cool with the open gear on back!
They work well and as an added bonus they look cool as heck!

These things are the best...period! I have two guitars that were a pain to keep in tune. I've tried locking Sperzels, locking Schallers, and Planet Waves but none helped. I thought my guitars were crap. I finally put these on both and voila...all my tuning problems disappeared! The Hip shots made all the difference making my guitar feel new again and turn smoothly and easily. I'll never use anything else. Highly recommended!!! If you want 3+3 configuration, go to hipshot's website (listed as Bass side and Treble side). A little more expensive there but worth every penny!
