I bought a custom Fender Super Champ 12"combo cabinet because I needed a bit more stage volume then my stock Super Champ 10" cab could handle. I tried the c12n and c12k along with a Celestion 70/80, all sounded pretty good but lacked the magic of my Super Champ 10" combo upgraded with the c10q. I decided to give it one more shot with this lower powered 35 watt Jensen c12q. Bingo! it sounded great out of the box even before break in. Nice bottom end with fender cleans that chime. It's been a long process but worth the extra effort. Jensen gave me at least a half a dozen speaker suggestions, but were not as helpful as MF reviews and customer service..thanks!

This is a GREAT replacement for a Black Face Deluxe Reverb but U would do better to get one rated about 20 watts higher to do til the bottom end and fine highs, I decided to get another but bought a Weber 12 F150 which is a great repro of the OXFORDS the mid 60 Deluxe Reverbs came with... Still a great speaker if YA want to keep your amp stock.....

THE Deluxe reverb is the most used amp than any other amp but learning how to set it up to get clean tones yet GRITTY ones for blues as well takes time. also, give this speaker 40 hours of break in time.

Comments about Jensen C12Q 35W 12" Replacement Speaker:

I was looking for an earlier breakup in my '68 Custom Deluxe Reverb. I was also looking to reduce some of the low end growl, which is cool, but was a bit too much and stealing some clarity. This amp came stock with a 75w Celestion and I had tried a 50w Jensen C12N (very cool, but still a bit too full sounding). The Jensen C12Q did the trick. Nice earlier break up, still with chime, punch and clarity. A bit less low end which I wanted and it's now letting some really nice mids into my tone. I'd highly recommend this if you want to mod your amp to play smaller bars/venues. The quality and tone is there in these speakers even though they are fairly inexpensive.

Comments about Jensen C12Q 35W 12" Replacement Speaker:

I put this lower wattage speaker to replace a 50 watt speaker. This sounds super at lower volumes like I wanted. The stock speaker sounded muffled at low volumes.. I was looking for a greenback spec speaker to practice and record with at lower volumes. I never felt like this speaker needs to break in, I just played it louder at first and then quieted it down, sounded good the whole time. This has a nice thick weighty magnet for its rating. Plenty of natural bass, not over exaggerated like a lot o newer speakers. This is made in Italy, which is a plus. All the under two bill Celestions are Chinese and cost more? What a ripoff. I couldn't find a lower volume greenback style Eminence, so this was a no brainier to try first.. I would spend two bills if that's what it took for a quality speaker, but Jensen is champion at an affordable price.

        Quality no more...

Comments about Jensen C12Q 35W 12" Replacement Speaker:

Track down something vintage. Obvious headaches are involved, but these can't compete.
Sadly the quality of this Jensen speaker seems to have dropped off from what it was ten years ago. In the past I have loved the articulate, woody tone of C12Qs. But my recent order seems unable to handle bass frequencies without distorting (and not in a pleasing way), while the high end sounds piercing and cheap. A huge disappointment. And it's only powered by a 15 watt amp. I would hate to think what terrible results a higher power Fender or similar amp would produce with this speaker.
It's definitely not going in my Silvertone Twin Twelve.

Comments about Jensen C12Q 35W 12" Replacement Speaker:

Great product and excellent service in every way.
I fooled around and tried to get my old speaker reconed and after wasting a month, plus shipping, they tell me it that it will take $110 and shipping to repair it.
So, I went to Musician's Friend and ordered a new Jensen. That should have been my first choice.
I was afraid that the new Jensens wouldn't sound as good as the original 1960's.
Wrong. This thing sounds identical to the old one so I have a nice matched pair in the old Silvertone 1474 twin-twelve from 1962.
I ordered the speaker one day and received it 2 days later. Very good price and excellent service.

        Highly recommended.

Comments about Jensen C12Q 35W 12" Replacement Speaker:

Nothing is perfect, but these speakers are very close!! It was the trick to taming the Marshall Cabinet down, they give me a really sweet tone!!!
I put 2 of these speakers ( Jensen C12Q's ) in a a Marshall JCM800 B Cabinet, along with the stock 2 Celesions G12M-70's. Nice tone clean, overdriven they sing and bark along with the the Celestions!! I play different guitars, and they sound good with any guitar. I am using an Eganater Renegade head, and it really sounds sweet with the Jensens!! I would recommend them to anyone looking for a little cleaner sound than the Celestions. I am still breaking them in, but they keep up with my 30 year old Celestions!! I was pleasently surprised!!!
They are Jensens!! Made In Italy!! What more can I say??
