Incredible deal

Comments about Jensen MOD12-35 35W 12" Replacement Speaker:

I tried not to expect very much from a 40 dollar speaker, but it really is a Incredible price for a great speaker. I really only see the British Influence on very clean sounds, but it still sounds great. It is not a very muddy speaker either, it maintains clarity while still breaking up nicely. This speaker does not add color to the tone, but it let's the amps tone really show through. I have a mesa single rectifier that sounds fantastic through my cab, but I also compared it through a celestion g12 and I thought the jensen's sounded better

Comments about Jensen MOD12-35 35W 12" Replacement Speaker:

Amazing speaker for the price of a bottle of good booze. Seems to work really well in a Blues Junior. I'll post back after I get a chance to open the amp up. Since I'm play'in a BJ, you can pretty much guess the kind of tones I'm chasing. I don't do bar gigs anymore, but do play some live pod cast for an original material 3 piece. Write and record my own stuff for kicks. This is not my only amp, but it is now one of my faves after installing the Mod. Play G&L ASAT, Strat, LP Custom and The Paul with a Duncan JB. All sound good thru this speaker. Clean or dirty. Oddly, my TS9 doesn't sound "right" in front of this amp after the speaker change. I have a love-hate thing with all my pedals anyway, so I don't really care. Just odd that it makes the TS9 sound cheap and nasal. Maybe cuz it is. lol
Um, It's a speaker. It has mounting holes and connectors for hooking up ur amp. No other features required.
Made it Italy. Seems well made. Much lighter than the stock Fender speaker due to the lower wattage having a smaller magnet.
I read alot of reviews before buying, and everyone pretty much said that this speaker was amazing for the $$. I have to agree. I wanted to get rid of the boxy sound of my Blues Jr. So my options were to either mod the amp or upgrade the speaker. The stock spearker is really well made (in the USA), so I have to believe that it is just not voiced well for the BJ. I modded a valve junior, and didn't like working on PCB components. (Not clean like working on a point-to-point wired amp.)
So, I bought the Jenson Mod and hoped for the best. At bedroom volumes, this thing really opened up the tone of the amp. Very clear and balanced. Bell like tones out of my strat. Nice full jazz tones out of my LP custom neck pup. The OD was warm and fat without the middy mud of the stock speaker. Wow. I can't wait to crank the amp up and see how it sounds when the power tubes are clipping. Money well spent. Plus, as a bonus, the 35 watt speaker is much lighter than the stock, I think 50 watt speaker, so my Blues Jr is easier to haul. NIce!

Pleasantly Surprised

Comments about Jensen MOD12-35 35W 12" Replacement Speaker:

I bought this speaker because it was inexpensive, but it certainly isn't a cheap speaker. When I took out a Celestion G12H-30 and put this is for a sound comparison I was really surprised. I am not going to say it sounded better than the G12H, but it did sound really good. The mids were more pronounced, more like a 25w Greenback, and it was very crunchy. It did not have the low end of the G12H, but most speakers don't. Comparing it to a Celestion Classic Lead, I liked the mids and highs better, but it didn't have the same low end as the CL. This speaker has the low end like a G12M, and it does get loose on the low end as you get louder, cut back on the bass, which is not unusual. Too many guitarists muddy up the sound by playing with too much bass, that's what bassists are for! I would recommend getting this if you like the old school low wattage speaker sound, particularly Greenback-ish sounds. Great price, and well built speaker.

Comments about Jensen MOD12-35 35W 12" Replacement Speaker:

The Jensen MOD series are a well kept secret indeed. I was looking for a better amp speaker than the one that came in my Crate, so I bought this after asking Jensen about what sound to expect. These are not for metal, but for the "classic" rock sound and dare I say, EVH sound. The sound is very clear and crunchy, without messing with your amp's true tone. They are built well, too. Made in Italy. Good job Jensen.

Comments about Jensen MOD12-35 35W 12" Replacement Speaker:

Right out of the box the lightness of the driver was a technological marvel. I have a Fender Super Champ XD 15 watt tube (1 pre 12at7 E-Harm 2 6v6 Groove Tube Gold level 5) ... the 15 watts and GT Gold (level 5) are a PURRRRRRFECT match made under with groovy and deliciously smooth waves that are made in my .wav files. Seriously, when the speaker starts to break up that is the waves you see in any .mp3 or .wav. The reason why we like tube sound is because the waves are tonally correct... meaning they are waves that agree with each other or they compliment each other. The point where these speakers break up is PERFECT. Its only going to get better from here. What I am happiest with is that FINALLY the flabby fart knocker speaker that FENDER put in this now beautiful unit is never going to make me mad again because this 35 watt MOD has NO TROUBLE WHAT SO EVER keeping up with anything and all the amp models if you got an xd do yourself a favor and BRING THAT AMP TO WHAT IT CAN BE FOR UNDER$50 . Don't think anymore just do it and YES it retains that FENDER chime on clean. DO IT!!!!!!! Oh and it will take any pedal you put on it. With love.

I had an old Marantz stereo system in which the original 12" speakers had crumbled. The cabinets were still in great shape, including the tweeters, so I bought these replacement speakers to completely restore them. And I'm very satisfied.

I put it in an empty cab when I got it.
Did'nt want to go to the trouble of pulling the chassis and speaker from my blues Jr. if it sounded terrible.
Ran my Jr., 65 deluxe, and marshall dsl40c through it.
Sounded pretty awful at first, but after a couple of hours of playing it started coming into its own.
After about 4 hrs I decided it was going into the Jr.
Good sound is different to different people, so I'm not going to try to give you a long description that only I know what it means.
Played through most every thing there is in the last 50 years, and it sounds mighty fine to me.
Just make sure you give it a little time to come around.
Your bank account will thank you.

I'm not a super technical person when it comes to guitars. I'm actually a drummer that plays guitar for fun. I bought two of these bad boys and threw them into a blank cab I got on CL. I purchased a Micro Terror here to jam with and these speakers sound amazing with it. A little more low end than I expected and handles distortion nicely. Two thumbs up from me!
