Comments about Jensen P10R 25 Watt 10" Replacement Speaker:
I agree with a lot of the other comments on this speaker. I believe that it is too bright and, when pushed, sounds a bit harsh and raspy. I recently replaced the stock (junk) speaker in my Crate v5 with a Weber alnico 10s speaker and the difference was amazing. Granted, it's still a crate v5 but for a 5-watt el84 tube amp, it sounds pretty smooth. The Weber is a great, high quality speaker made in the USA and is a far better speaker (I believe) than the Jensen. And its about half the price. If you're considering Jensen, or any quality speaker for that matter, take a look at the Webers first.
Comments about Jensen P10R 25 Watt 10" Replacement Speaker:
I have tried four these speakers in my Laney Class-A 30W (EL34 tubes) with the matching extension cab and then in my Fender Bassman 60W (6L6 tubes)and in both amps these speakers are too bright...it doesn't matter...single coil...humbucker...P90...all too bright with these speakers...I'd be interested in trying out Celestion's new 10" version of their famous G12M Greenback speaker...of course anyting would sound better then the Jensen P10R speaker
Comments about Jensen P10R 25 Watt 10" Replacement Speaker:
I ordered one of these for my Pro Junior. Wow! This is the sound I was looking for. Try one for yours...
Comments about Jensen P10R 25 Watt 10" Replacement Speaker:
To all the people who put these in their amp and say its too bright, that has to do with the amp's wiring and the tubes. It isn't just the speakers, these speakers are great!
Comments about Jensen P10R 25 Watt 10" Replacement Speaker:
I just replaced the stock fender speakers on my pro jr with this Jensen P10R and sound has improved dramatically. It is no wonder Fender uses these speakers on the limited edition pro jr woody. The speaker is not bright sounding at all, well at least on the pro jr. I guess it depends on the amp. On some amps it may not compliment the amp sound. Its a little pricey though.
Comments about Jensen P10R 25 Watt 10" Replacement Speaker:
AMEN!!! These are too bright...period I have 4 of them in my 30W Class A Laney, which should ueild a warm thick tone, but they are just too bright and break up in an unpleasent way. I don't know of anyone who would like these if your looking for great tone
Comments about Jensen P10R 25 Watt 10" Replacement Speaker:
I installed four new Jensen P10R speakers in my 1968 Fender Super Reverb. These speakers are way too bright to my taste, and I can't imagine why they are advertize them as "warm" sounding. I have another Super Reverb with the original (reconed) speakers and the contrast is drastic. The new Jensen P10R's is like having the Bright switch on all the time. I turned down the Treble to 4 to get a tone that would still be considered spiky (think Albert Collins). I wouldn't recommend these speakers to anyone wanting a "warm" sounding speaker.
