I play guitar and sing, and own a Belmonte and old chrome wire Hamilton stand. I ordered the Ruka and really like it, as I use a couple of binders full of songs and perform solo with a drum machine etc. The Ruka is way more adjustable than the Hamilton I'm replacing it with. The desk is not as deep as the Hamilton, but it is a little more stable. I like the black color, and the tilt is adjustable (big improvement). Very easy to assemble, didn't have to read any instructions. I don't think any came with it! I attached my light to the lyre and it's perfect! I'll probably leave the Belmonte at home and gig with the Ruka. The chrome Hamilton I'll use for jamming standing up. I like it as well. Music has been a lifelong treasure for me and is a reward in itself. It's the journey that's important, not the destination. It's the best! Peace!

Good stand, but way huge when collapsed and doesn't fit that well into the carry bag...
really nice stand, but kind of big (doesn't fold down as small as other K&M stands, like the 101). But it is actually lightter than the 101, so easy to move around once it is setup. very sturdy;
Hints at that legendary K&M quality and design.
These cost close to double what a 101b can be had for, and being that they are large to carry, one has to consider the pros and cons of size vs. weight vs. price. I would say that for most users, you would be better off with a real K&M 101b than a ruka..

Portable, light, easy to use

Comments about K&M Ruka Ultra Lightweight Music Stand:

Very lightweight and portable. Setup is a little busy with turning and twisting but the puzzle is worth the effort. Playing the bagpipe in a band, it is easy to have the stand with me while learning the new music in a group. The extensions are perfect for 3 pieces of music (with my clips to hold them in place.) Overall a good choice for me.

Comments about K&M Ruka Ultra Lightweight Music Stand:

Thumb screws and page holder swivel are easily adjustable. Best feature: sturdy shaft and wide legs....hard to knock over. Glad I spend the extra.

Wonderful quality stand

Comments about K&M Ruka Ultra Lightweight Music Stand:

The Ruka is both well constructed and an excellent bargain. The inclusion of a carry bag essentially means the comparable price of the stand is about 20 bucks. The hardware is precision machined and of higher quality than you'd expect in a stand at this price point.

Comments about K&M Ruka Ultra Lightweight Music Stand:

I already had the extra heavy duty K & M stand, but when I started taking group Uke lessons I found it really awkward and heavy to take down and transport to class. This was a great solution! Now I leave the heavy duty one set up at home for practice and take the light one when I go out. I was concerned it wouldn't hold enough music, but it's great. Easy to set up and fold down. I even clip a aNueNue hangar on it to hang my uke when I need to. K & M makes quality products....

Comments about K&M Ruka Ultra Lightweight Music Stand:

I use this stand at the lowest setting when seated, playing guitar. I like its small profile; there's less between me and the audience. If I were to use it extended, I think it would be a little unstable, but for my purposes, it's ideal.

Comments about K&M Ruka Ultra Lightweight Music Stand:

Of the three stands I bought recently I like this the best. It costs over twice as much as the others but is still less than half the cost of a lot of other stands. It is extremely light and compact and the hardware seems to be a reliably good quality. As a cellist, I was looking for a stand that I can set very low to play over and one that can be used for some of my very smallest child students sitting on little stools. This works great for that. I will probably be using this as my primary stand in solo performances where I don't want the stand blocking my instrument.

Comments about K&M Ruka Ultra Lightweight Music Stand:

I am very impressed with the lightweight nature of this stand and how easy it is to transport. I have put a fairly heavy music book on it and it supported the music well. It has some give to it under weight but I want to reserve comment on durability until I have used it for a while. Overall I am impressed.

In 20 years of performing, this is by far the best foldable music stand I have ever used. It even holds heavy/large books without wobbling or titling.
