The Korg GA-30 Guitar/Bass Tuner is a high-precision LCD needle-type meter. Unique Korg feature lets you tune down to 5 semitones flat. Internal speaker produces tuning reference tone. High-sensitivity internal mic for tuning acoustic guitars. Auto power off and low power draw for very long battery life.
An Easy-to-Use Dedicated Guitar and Bass Tuner BR>
This dedicated guitar/bass tuner lets you select either Guitar mode or Bass mode for truly easy operation with automatically detected pitch. The wide detection range supports 7-string guitar (7B through 1E) in Guitar mode, and 6-string bass (Low-B, Hi-C) in Bass mode. A high-sensitivity mic is built-in, allowing easy and accurate tuning of acoustic guitars.
Ultra-compact Body with a "Tilt Slit" BR>
Although the GA-30 is small, thin, and light, don't let its pocket-sized body fool you. The GA-30 can accurately tune any guitar or bass. From studio to stage, tuning is easy and convenient. The back of the unit includes a unique arc-shaped "tilt slit" that lets you insert a plastic card for use as a handy stand.
High-Precision LCD Meter BR>
The meter section uses a LCD needle, combining the accuracy of an LCD with the easy visibility of a needle, and providing a stable display. Additional visual feedback is provided by LEDs that indicate pitch deviation.
Sound Out -- Internal Speaker Provides a Reference Pitch BR>
In addition to visual tuning via meter, the GA-30 can play reference pitches from its internal speaker (Sound Out) for tuning by ear. Each press of the Sound switch will cycle the output sound through 7B->6E->5A->4D->3G->2B->1E in Guitar mode, or LB->4E->3A->2D->1G->HC in Bass mode.
Quinta Flat Tuning mode -- a world-wide first! BR>
The GA-30's Quinta Flat Tuning mode supports the lowered tunings used in heavy metal styles to give more weight to the sound. Until now, dedicated guitar tuners have supported a maximum of only four semitones below standard pitch, but the GA-30 gives you five steps of flatted tuning, extending as far as five semitones below standard pitch, and supporting even super-long scale guitars that are five frets longer than conventional guitars.
Auto Power Off Function BR>
If you leave the unit powered-on for 20 minutes without performing any operation, the Auto Power Off function will turn the power off automatically, avoiding unnecessary battery consumption.
Approximately 100 hours of continuous use BR>
Low-power consumption design allows an amazing 100 hours (approximate) of continuous battery life (A4 continuous input, Meter mode, zinc-carbon batteries).
* Even if the pitch is within the detection range, detection may not be possible for instrumental sounds that contain a large number of overtones or have a rapid decay.
Korg tuners and metronomes purchased from a Korg USA authorized dealer now have a three year warranty.
Makes tuning 7-string and long-scale guitars plus 6-string basses a cinch.

First off let me just say I rated this product higher than I probably would have if I had not read some of the previous, maliciously negative reviewers comments & "torpedo like" ratings designed to sink this product.Had there not been so many unfair reviews, I probably would have given the Korg GA-30 solid 8's across the board, but I felt compelled to "adjust" my product rating to help even out the final overall ratings on this fine tuner.Ok now for the review, this is a good tuner, its quick, easy to use, & very accurate.Disclaimer: *If you follow the instructions*Now the negatives, I would have liked an output jack, I would have liked an optional LCD screen backlight, and very rarely, the tuner will fluctuate between 6E & 1E while tuning 6E, but only for a fraction of a second or so.However none of the negatives are even remotely serious "problems" as this tuner does have a built in speaker, no-one that I know tunes their guitars in the dark & only a moron would get "confused" during the .002-.08th of a second that the tuner fluctuates between 6E & 1E in the LCD display while tuning 6E.So while its not perfect, it is a quick, accurate, easy to use tuner at a very good price.

I own two of these tuners. I bought my first one approximately 2 years ago. It was always a little "jumpy" when attempting to tune the high E and B strings (fine, I dealt with it.) However, one day it decided to just stop working. The needle wouldn't move when attempting to tune any string. The pitch/tone feature continued to function, but I prefer the plug in feature. I changed batteries, tried another chord....nothing. Finally, I decided to simply buy another one. It had the same "jumpy" characteristics as the first one. The second one, however, didn't last a week before it decided to simply stop working. Strike two!! Maybe it's time to pony up and get a better tuner.

I bought this tuner from my guitar teacher and love it.You can easily tune a half step down with the flat buttton. I've had it for less than a day but I just had to write a review because it was so good. It gets me in tune fast and is a great price. BUY THIS TUNER!!!!!!!!!!!
i've been using this same tuner for over four years now. it has always tuned my guitar faithfully, electric or acoustic to the point that i've never needed to learn tuning by ear. might not be a good thing but the tuner's never let me down so it hasn't been a problem. buy it.
I got this tuner at my qoute guitar shop for ten dolars more I liked it while it lasted. it stoped working about a week or month after i got it. i thought it was chromatic. I was sadly mistaken. well there was my review
I noticed some of the other reviews weren't really reviews on it. The Ga-30 CAN in fact tune to other tunings aside from standard. It honestly just takes a little bit of common sense. I love this tuner for the money it works amazingly.
I have mixed feelings about this tuner. It's not horrible but it's not excellent either. It gets the job done and for the price, it's a very good deal. I would keep this as a back up on the road tuner.
It's a great tuner don't get me wrong, but the problem is if you want to tune it anything other than standard, it can't do it. The CA-30 is much better. It can tune all kinds of instruments in all kinds of pitches, and it's only a few dollars more. There is really no reason not to get that one.
This Korg is awesome for the price. Its just a high-quality, easy to use tuner. There is really nothing complicated about it. It is also easy to tune acoustic guitars with it because it has a decent mic.
I bought this tuner with my first guitar right before I left for Iraq. Tried to tune it today this thing is junk and does not even read my guitar half the time when i use it. This thing is junk and now I have to order another one and get it sent out to me. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone
I have owned it for over four years and I have never had a problem with it. The batteries last incredibly long and the item is as solid as I would have expected. It's plastic. The one drawback is that it is so light that when I plug my guitar into the jack to tune, the tuner sometimes slides around. But that's a minor annoyance that is easily overcome by the price and quality. I have always had solid tunings. I use an acoustic-electric and plug right in. Using the external mic might be affected by other noises, but I would guess that's the same issue with any external mic tuner. I would say buy this as it is a great price and gets the job done!
I bought this tuner last december when I lost my old Korg CA-30 and they've both been very sturdy no complaints about that and they've spent alot of time on the road with me. HOWEVER, the GA-30 is crap for guitar it never seems to tune it right BUT it's great for bass which was why I bought it in the first place so it's perfect for bass but doesnt work for guitar.
