I bought this on a SDOTD and was not disappointed. I was extremely impressed with the quality of this tuner. It has a solid build quality, is very accurate with fast response time in both polyphonic and single string tuning modes, and has an excellent display. The LED lights are bright, contemporary looking and "fun" to watch while tuning. You need to use your fingers to activate small rubber buttons to change modes for mute, etc, or turn it on/off since there are no foot controls (which is clear from the product description). I think that this tuner is fine for situations where you can have the tuner at "arms reach" to change its settings. Alternatively, for a pedal board application I think that you would want to keep the tuner on at all times, so you could quickly identify which string(s) are out of tune by a single strum of the open strings and glancing at the polyphonic display. But in this situation, unless you bend over to press the mute button (by hand) you will hear the guitar while playing the open strings to see which ones are out, and while tuning errant ones. I think that limitation is manageable by controlling your on-stage volume while tuning. But if you do want to mute your output while tuning, it's a significant trade off since the time required to bend down and mute/un-mute the tuner output cuts into the benefits of having the fast tuning diagnostics with the polyphonic display.

This tuner is probably worth what I paid for it .( i don't like to think i got beat ) it seems to be sturdy enough . looks alright .easy to use . but I'm not all that thrilled with the LED indicator lights? on some tuning's it doesn't light up the whole spectrum of LED light indicators . its almost like some are not working correctly are burnt out . .it still tunes accurate you just got to know what string your tuning . G looks like a C . I know you don't tune in C but when tuning G it looks like a C because of the indicator lights that don't light up the whole pattern of the note are chord . you get my point .

Comments about Korg Pitchblack Portable Polyphonic Tuner:

This is a VERY well built tuner. Heavy to hold itself in place on stage, bright easy to see display and the price was very good. Even the lack of a built in mic. this is still one of the best tuners I've used. Lots of USEFUL functions, my favorite is the display of all of the strings tuning in one shot. I never expected that to be a feature I would use, but I was pleasantly surprised.

Comments about Korg Pitchblack Portable Polyphonic Tuner:

I use this just as a standard guitar tuner to be honest. I was really impressed of the accuracy of this device. The polyphonic tuning is great for just checking in a pinch but for me I'll still tune up one string at a time. It's slim enough for a portable but has enough heft to the frame to be board mounted if you like and has a mute button I think with that idea in mind. While it will do capo and Drop D tunings I was left wishing I had other options such as alternate tunings since I like to play those. I haven't messed around a lot with that feature yet so in time I may learn to make that option work for me better. KORG is an excellent brand and this product lives up to the quality I would expect from that brand.

I love this tuner, Its my first polyphonic tuner and it is really nice to have on the pedal board so I can always see if im in tune or not. I just leave it on, plugged into a power supply. If you can get it for the stupid deal of the day price, about 1/3 of the normal cost, i highly recommend it.

I like the Pitchblack Portable on my pedal board because it is easy to read from a distance. Since I have this added to the 9 volt power supply for my board, I can leave it on all the time. The signal for this comes from the 'tuner' output of my Ernie Ball VP Jr, so there is no tone suck. The only drawback of the Pitchblack Portable is the small power button. Since I can leave it on all the time, this is a very small issue.
