My wife got me a set of the Lace Nitro Hemi pickups for my birthday. It was a recommendation from my guitar tech. I though he might have been just looking for the work, as he knew I would bring them in to have them installed! I have had my Paul Reed Smith SE Custom for a few years. Guitar plays beautify, but there was something dull and lifeless about it's tone. Especialy clean. I was familiar with the Lace Strat pickups, but had not heard any of their humbucker models. Needless to say, when I got my guitar back and played it, I heard something new right away. The first thing I noticed was on clean settings, the guitar sounded more open, and had a nice sparkle in the top end. The guitar sounded rich in the bottom end and the mush was gone. I cranked up my Marshall JCM 800 (I have had it since high school), and this glorious, tight, heavy tone spread though the room. Instantaneously, I heard tones from my guitar and amp that were never there before. Heavy crunch, but the top end was smooth and pleasant. Nice fluid harmonic overtones filled out the middle section. I now have a tone. I have received more complements on my tone than ever. They have come from my bandmates, friends that come to our performances, and a pretty prominent recording engineer (that made my day). I want to set up another guitar like this, but I might try a standard Hemi in the Neck. I am sold on these pickups.
Chrome cover and the HB can be split.
The appear to built like a tank. A bit heavy, maybe it's the chrome.
They are in line with the other pickup makers.

Only thing I wish is that they wouldnt scratch up...the chrome is so nice right out of the package! but its inevitable and they are no worse than any other brand under normal wear and tear conditions. The tone on these is solid and tight and fuull of life...its like a super passive tone...organic and lively...with no boominess or flubbing. I think these would sound great on many different woods...but on my tele they sound amazing.
I just picked one of these up because I already liked the regular Lace Hemi...and I can't resist products witht he word NITRO in from of them...so had to try it. This is one beefy monster! The Chrome caps are really nice quality and they look great on my Fender 2 hum tele.
