I bought this to replace the terrible stock humbucker in my cheap Ibanez. I was hoping that this pickup would be an improvement and I was amazed at how well this sounds. It has smooth, even response across the strings, good high end without being nasally at all and a good low end with no mud. It sounds great clean as well as distorted. This sounds better than many stock humbuckers, even from higher level name brand guitars. You can't go wrong at this price.

I replaced the stock pickups in an Epiphone Les Paul Custom with the neck and bridge versions of the "Powered by Lace" pickups. There wasn't any 3" CD included - just a very limited diagram on the cardboard backing in the package. I went to the Lace web site and tried to download the diagram but the only diagrams available were for the more expensive pups. I called their tech support and although I didn't get through I was able to leave a message and did receive a call back. The tech guy promised to email a diagram that never arrived. I ended up wiring them just like the stock ones had been done as both only had simple two conductor leads. Lace recommended using 500k pots which is what I already had so no issue there. I do think the pups sound better than the stock Epiphones. The lead is clearer and the overdrive doesn't get as muddy but these aren't anywhere close to EMG HZ's or SD blackouts. Should have spent the extra coin.

        Good Buy for the Price!

I bought this pickup for the bridge position of my Samick/Valley Arts Custom Pro Shop Strat. If you are not familiar with this guitar, it is an upper-end Samick Strat. (and in my opinion, is as good as any American Strats that I have played) This "Powered by Lace" pickup really brought out the tone and pressence of this guitar! REALLY tight sound, yet rich on the harmonics, without the high-end screech that so many stock pickups have.

Might Be Just What You're Looking For.

I bought and installed this pickup about a year ago for a friend of mine. We bought them to replace them the pickups on his base model Epiphone SG. I must say that I wasn't a fan of of his guitar in the first place. The guitar sounded about as good as my Squire Affinity, which isn't saying much. The difference between the stock pickups and these were pretty amazing. Where the stock sounded thin and brittle, These sounded full and bright. They didn't have a large bottom end, but that might have been the sub-par wood. Got a nice lead and almost telly sound of them though. As far as value goes I can't think of any other pickup that even comes close. Add the fact that you can do coil splitting is just icing on the cake. The only thing that I can think where quality is lacking, is the pickup rings. I ended up writing this review when I went to check the price to see if I could afford to buy some more for another friend. Which is the true test of how good an item is. I was surprised to find that the price has dropped. Awesome.

        A steal of a deal w/great sound

        By Tig

I bought this pickup to replace the cheap humbucker that came with my used Epiphone LP Jr. No need spending money on a replacement pickup for a cheap guitar, right? I was pleasantly surprised at the tone and sensitivity of this pickup. It brought much needed life into my lil' project guitar, and didn't break the bank. It can produce great metal and rock tones. All the parts are pre-assembled, and instructions come in the package. This is a no-brainer. Best bang for the buck!

The Power of Lace Compels You

        By unknown luthier

I bought this pickup to put in the neck position of a custom Tele that I built. I build my own guitars and am always looking for the biggest value I can find. I tapped the coils using a push-pull pot and the thing sounds great in either single or double coil mode. I strongly suggest that you get this one because it sounds awsome. For the price it is unbeatable.

        Bargain and a half!

That old saying, "You get what you pay for" doesn't apply here. These pickups sound as good, if not better, than pickups costing 3 times as much. They're not splitable (only 2 wires), but that's okay. They're clear, articulate, balanced, and fairly loud.

        Buy this now!

I purchased the Lace pickup for the neck of my Dean Evo XM. If you don't already know, the stock pickups are crap. Along with the Lace I bought a Seymour Duncan SH-8 Invader for the bridge. The Lace is simple to install, It came pre-assembled so all I had to is solder it up and drop it in. It sounds amazing! Especially for the neck. It's clean and smooth and dirty as hell when you need it to be. Wow. This is perfect for your stage beater or if you're looking to mod any ax. Buy it.

        Humbucker to Work

I have a little Ibanez that was given to me several years ago that I have done numerous paint jobs on....basically, it's a mutt. I only use it for backup. These pickups were cheap and they work great. Good sound for the price. Great replacement if you're not looking to get too picky into buying a Seymour Duncan or Dimarzio.

        A steal !

        By arellanon

I bought a pair of these pups in 2003 because of the low price. I figured I had not much to lose. I put them in my guinea pig ESP to give them a try; I was quite impressed by the sound! I then transplanted the bridge pup to the neck slot of my Kramer 424 and it sounded just as good if not better. I run that pup at the neck along with a Seymour Duncan Hot Rails in the middle coupled with a DiMarzio Humbucker From Hell at the bridge. IMHO the Kramer has sonics to spare and this pup is an integral part of it. Try 'em!
