If you didn't really want a Strat...

Comments about Lace Sensor Blue-Silver-Red Prewired Pickguard:

I recommend these pickups for someone who bought a Strat, but didn't really want one. They're not "bad" pups, they just don't have any of the Strat sound. At all. Whatsoever. That being said, you will get a wide range of tones with this set. The blue sensor, used in the neck, is as smooth and warm as melted butter. The silver, used in the middle, almost wants to be an actual Strat pickup. It has the best definition of the three. The red sensor, used in the bridge, will give you a good tone for classic rock, especially the crunchier stuff. This set actually works really well when you pour on the gain. The sensors are very smooth and quiet, with a nice overdriven voice. For clean stuff, however, they ain't worth talking about. No chime, no sparkle, no glass, no "Strat-itude". The blue sensor is sort of boomy, the silver is a little flat, and the red just doesn't cut it. One final note about the red sensor: It's supposed to be very hot, but that is not the case. I don't notice any more output than from any other good Strat bridge pickup, and it definitely isn't as strong as a Hot Noiseless or an SCN bridge pup. I rated these sensors a 2.5 overall because they aren't very useful for my style, which doesn't depend on high gain very much. If , however, you like to pour the coal to your amp, you'll probably like them just fine.

Comments about Lace Sensor Blue-Silver-Red Prewired Pickguard:

I ordered a prewired pick guard with the Lace - Blue, Silver and Red pick-ups. I was hoping the installation wouldn't require soldering, but it does. No big deal, it isn't rocket science. Once the pups were on and working, I found that all of the controls work great with a fair amount of range when the tone and volume knobs are adjusted. The five way slider switch works perfectly with no noise. The tones are as advertised. I still have the single pup sound, but a little more mellow when played through my Fender '65 Twin. The pick-ups fit perfectly and look good. I would rather have a choice on pick-guard colors, but it can be changed out with a little bit of effort. All in all, I am satisfied with the look and sound and I would recommend them to anyone looking to try something different.

Eh. . .

Comments about Lace Sensor Blue-Silver-Red Prewired Pickguard:

This pickup combination does not really work real well. The bridge pickup sounds pretty good, a real hot sound, and the middle pickup sounds pretty good, but the neck pickup is borderline horrible. Because of the vast EQ differences across the pickups, when you get a decent set up working with theBridge and middle, then flip to the neck, and it is solid mud. Even if you do get the bass set up right for that neck pickup, it's tone is just. . . Decent. Nothing real bad, nothing real good.

not for strat players

Comments about Lace Sensor Blue-Silver-Red Prewired Pickguard:

I must say I was quite excited about putting this setup in a custom built strat.....right up to the point that I plugged the guitar into one of my better amps. Sadly, these pickups like the tonal qualities that make a strat sound like a strat. No chime, no bite, no character...at all. There is no denying that Lace makes wonderful products; unfortunately these pickups miss the mark if you're looking to enhnance your favorite strat.

Comments about Lace Sensor Blue-Silver-Red Prewired Pickguard:

Installed this guard with Lace pickups on one of my Strats before a gig a couple of weeks ago. What an awesome sound they produced!! Clean and articulate with great sustain. I am a Seymour Duncan enthusiast, but the lace really impressed me. I am thinking about another guitar wired with these!

Comments about Lace Sensor Blue-Silver-Red Prewired Pickguard:

These pickups are awesome!! I have them in three of my strats. But absolutely make sure to put a TBX tone control on your bridge pickup!! ( it makes a huge difference and was what Fender did when they were using them) the pickups are super versital. They will give you a great humbucker type sound in the bridge when you want it, but will sound like a great strat when you want it too. But definitely install the TBX on the bridge tone control!!

Comments about Lace Sensor Blue-Silver-Red Prewired Pickguard:

These pickups are great. I'll agree with some of the other reviewers -- if you want the traditional, chiming, bright, "spanky" strat sound, you may be disappointed. But if you play any style of music that calls for thick, warm fuzz/overdrive, you'll love them. This is the same pickup combination you'll hear on Smashing Pumpkins' Siamese Dream and Mellon Collie.

The holes for the screws in the pickguard don't quite line up with the drilled holes in my modern American Standard Strat, but I'd consider that to be a minor issue. Installation is easy if you're comfortable with a soldering iron.

Highly recommended for indie, alternative, and similar styles! Retain the feel of a strat, but add a chunky, warm fullness to your sound.
