Very handy, pretty darn bright, and great coverage, as advertised. Satisfied with its quality and performance overall...my issue is with longevity. We have been using Energizer alkaline batteries since we got it. Though the the bulb is supposed to last 50,000 hours, the light has only a 6-month (4032-hour) warranty. Our light is completely dead inside of 9 months. We gig at least three times a week on average... at 4 hours a pop, we got less than 450 hours of use out of it. I'm giving it 3.5 overall because of its life expectancy, not its performance. I'm giving it 4.0 in quality because of construction (seems flimsy), though if you're careful with it, that's a non-issue.

Great light for individual use...but be careful...can break easy and use "good" brand name batteries. Good points: Very bright, folds nicely and fits in instrument case. Bad points: Was not good in the long run for my 25-piece volunteer big band. We gig up to 25 times per year. We purchased 25 of these lights 3 years ago. We are now down to 12. What we've experienced - light boom splits where it is snapped together, wires pop out, light head pops off, if you accidently turn the boom the wrong way its broken for good, battery compartment lid pops off, corrosion of battery coils, battery life can be unpredicatable, if a battery leaks - hard to clean interior coil and plate, AC adapter a bit cumbersome and cord needs to be longer.

Too Fragile

By Hot Ride

Great light, nice and bright----but the wires inside have disconected themselves from the light bulb. Battery lid won't stay on and the arms screws won't stay in. This light has been treated very gently when used and put away. I purchased it anyway even after seeing the reviews. This light will not hold up in the wiring department even with light use. They need to rework the wiring design inside the unit.

OK for the right application

I used one of these on stage for a season and it works fine for low lighting purposes. However, be careful with the little extension neck. It's fragile and, with improper handling, will break.

Great Light, but FRAGILE

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

I have two of these and they do produce a great whitish-blue light. But don't drop them! One fell off of my music stand and completely disassembled; batteries and covers flying all over the dance floor. My other one, while closing it down after a gig, the arm broke off of the main body. Lasted about two years. Guess what? I'm back to electric corded lights!

Very Fragile but great light

By tbone-1Zn5b

Very bright light with a nice clip. The swing out arm is very delicate. I have owned four and the last one I didn't even get to turn on before the arm fell apart in my hands. The one before that lasted two uses. Two are on my workbench waiting to be glued - if I can get it to work.

nice but fragile light

Ask me a question

Am a pro musician. Have purchased 2 of these lights. Handle them delicately in my gig bag among other fragile sound components. They give off great light. But each only lasted 6-12 months of weekly gigging. The bulb lasts 50,000 hours, but not the rest of it.

Pro Player

I own this thing and, while it's a good lamp for the stage, it's very, very flimsey. Mine now has a short in it that makes it flicker on & off. I've just ordered another type and hope it's more sturdy. Good light ... flimsy design.

great light - very fragile

By BCY123

This is the best light source you will find that runs on batteries. Very bright!!! The problem is the folding arms are fragile. Mine has broken several times and i have glued it and taped it up - and that will work. But the arm really needs to be handled gently. Also, the battery compartment is a little bulky and may not fit smoothly on your stand. However, the brightness is SO good, that i still would buy another!

Nice Light

By Sandman-w2y68

from Acoustic Land, USA

See all my reviews

Was a little hesitant spending this much on a light, but after gigging with it, it is worth every penny. The white light is very bright and does a good job on 2 pages at once. Be careful with the folding arm. I broke mine without much force, but was easily repaired with black electrical tape and it is stronger than ever...and the tape is not noticeable. If you really 'need' a light, this is the ticket. Get the ac adapter in case you forget extra batteries in your gig bag :) yep, it will happen!
