I just ordered a few pedals for my rig and was surprised at how well constructed this M-Audio SP-1 is. I bought a Korg PS-1 for twice the price in the same order and find them to be equals.
This M-Audio SP-1 features a full (cast or sheet?) metal body and a clearly defined polarity switch. I added it to the order expecting a basic plastic switch but it feels very sturdy. Comparatively, the Korg is slightly smaller and lighter (plastic base, but just as sturdy). However the cord on the Korg feels better - rubber cased whereas the M-Audio feels like plastic. If the cords were the same I would tend to say the M-Audio was better at either price.
If I was ordering again today I'd get two M-Audio PS-1's but they are so close to the Korg that it's not worth the $15 for the hassle of exchanging (and I like the yellow color of the Korg to tell the two apart during a gig).
I'll give 5 stars for now, out of the box, but will update if needed, after taking them both on the road.
One note: the "M-Audio" label on mine is black, embossed in the rubber face, not white as in the picture. Doesn't really matter to me but thought I'd point out the difference.

Comments about M-Audio SP-1 Sustain Pedal:
This is not the cheap plastic one's you are thinking of. This box is heavy-grade metal for its size; weighs about one pound. The applied pads on top and bottom are made of ruberized (not 'plastic') anti-skid meterial. I'm impressed for this price. And the top pedal is secured by metal screws where it swivels, engaging the sustain mechanism. Haven't used it yet 'cause my keyboard won't arrive until tomorrow. Will write more if something unexpect happens. Until then, go for it!

Comments about M-Audio SP-1 Sustain Pedal:
I use it as the remote switch for a Boss DS-2 pedal, with the polarity switch on. Allows the softer distortion option I to be normal, and pushing of the m-audio switches the DS-2 to option II.

Comments about M-Audio SP-1 Sustain Pedal:
Feels like a good quality pedal that operates smoothly. Cable is long enough to hook up with plenty of extra to route it anywhere you want. The sustain lasts a long time, and is easy to use. This is a great value for the cost.
Comments about M-Audio SP-1 Sustain Pedal:
This is a great pedal; does the job as it's supposed to and is relatively cheap.
Built like a tank yet very small and portable. Sufficient foot space to work the pedal. Also comes with a polarity switch.
Rubber foot pad is really dope. Being really low to the ground, it's impossible to knock over.
Amazing for what it's worth.
Comments about M-Audio SP-1 Sustain Pedal:
Value is exellent considering the combination of price and quality. I would buy this unit again. The product feels fairly sturdy, the area for your foot is wide and easy to access, and overall this is a perfect fit for what I am doing.

Comments about M-Audio SP-1 Sustain Pedal:
I've had it for two years, went on three consecutive tours, jumped my entire body weight on it at every show. Still hasn't given me a problem. For $15 dollars, incredible value.
Comments about M-Audio SP-1 Sustain Pedal:
OK, so I'm a bit brutal on my pedal, always have been, but after a week this thing stopped working halfway through a song at 4 in the morning. I opened it up and the wire that contacts the two terminals inside was bent; gently depressing it onto the contact that closes the circuit resulted in a surprising *crack*.I studied the part for a minute, asked my roommate for a paperclip, grabbed two pairs of needle nose pliers, and proceeded to forge a suitable replacement. It survived Ghost Love Score and Orion, so I think it's safe to say it works. When the wires aren't snapping it great. The rubber grip is strong, it's just the right springiness, and oh yes, A POLARITY SWITCH. Good for when you come across an old Roland. If you use inverted polarity regularly though, be willing to open the thing up and bend the wire once every few weeks, because that bend is the only thing keeping it in contact with the upper lead (thus keeping the sustain "off"). If you don't, all your notes will be sustained.
