I play a Gibson 'Artist Hummingbird' as a soloist and I've been using the Martin MSP4200 (which are similar but heavier gauge at 12 to 54) for a couple years but wanted to go a little lighter so that I could play 4 sets with less pain to my finger tips. These strings are just right. Nice tone, they play in tune, well balanced in volume and are easier on the fingers. Any lighter and you'd give up some tone and have tuning issues. These will be my regular strings. I change strings often so I can always have good tone so if you want longevity in your strings, maybe the coated ones are what you'd prefer but I think you give up some tone using coated strings. Martin strings seem to be the best in my experience. I've tried Dean Markley and D'Addario (they're ok). I have not tried Elixer becuase they are priced too high and I don't value longevity which seems to be their selling point. I think it's better to buy strings that are higher in value and change them before each gig or 2.

Smooth, Mellow, Well-rounded

Comments about Martin MSP3050 SP 80/20 Bronze Custom Light Acoustic Guitar Strings:

I've been playing for about 12 years, and been using these on my Martin D-15 for about 8 years. I have tried other strings and removed them within weeks including expensive coated options. What is the point of using a set of strings that last forever when they sound terrible? Use these instead, replace them as necessary. The sound these strings produce is smooth, mellow, well-rounded but with excellent body. This combination of sizes gives you volume without being hard to play. You cannot go wrong with these.

Cheap and great sounding strings. I recommend these for practice but not live performance. I experienced a slight buzzing from the low e string. But overall happy with the price an sound.

Comments about Martin MSP3050 SP 80/20 Bronze Custom Light Acoustic Guitar Strings:

I have been playing the guitar for 35 years and have 2 guitars: 6-string and 12-string Martins. These are the ONLY strings that I put on my guitars. They sound great and don't break easily, which is good because I was going through Elixirs like crazy! These strings actually sound better than the Elixirs. They bring out the beautiful rich, warm tones of Martin guitars.

Comments about Martin MSP3050 SP 80/20 Bronze Custom Light Acoustic Guitar Strings:

Anytime you change strings, your sound will improve. That can get expensive over a long time, but for the price I got these, I can't whine. I was using the Martin SP Lights before, but I now like the feel of the Custom Lights better. That's just a personal thing though. We all have to experiment until we find the gage that suits us. As for quality, I haven't had an issue with any Martin strings to date. There are plenty out there that cost twice as much or more. If you feel that they are worth it, write a review and tell us why.

In my 53 years of playing music, both as a hobby & professional, I've tried almost every acoustic string available.Different strings sound different on
different guitars. I discovered The Martin SP 3050 custom lights sound terrific on any guitar I put them on. I keep other brands for my friends, but am gradually graduating them over to these Martins. I am in a Bluegrass band now & they work out great.

Comments about Martin MSP3050 SP 80/20 Bronze Custom Light Acoustic Guitar Strings:

These strings are simply amazing. I recently bought a Yamaha FG75 from a friend, and the strings on it were over 4 years old. I needed some new ones and i picked these. Well, I made the right choice. These strings are beautiful. My Yamaha cost 75$ and with these strings on it, it sounds exactly like my friends 500$ guitar. You must buy these strings if you want a nice warm tone and long lasting strings. They're cheap too!!

Comments about Martin MSP3050 SP 80/20 Bronze Custom Light Acoustic Guitar Strings:

I bought a Takamine 340SC a couple months back that was a display model. I noticed some of the strings were tarnished due to the guitar not being wiped after being played. After changing to these strings, not only did I get nice shiny strings, but I also got strings that were much easier to play and they sound AWESOME! Next time I need to change my strings out, these are what I will buy.

I placed my order for new strings for my guitar...... They came, I put them on my guitar, and am playing once again. It was very easy to place my order, and they came in record time. I'm very satisfied. This is the place for your musical needs. Thank you, Gary.
The best strings yet. Very good place to get what you need.

Comments about Martin MSP3050 SP 80/20 Bronze Custom Light Acoustic Guitar Strings:

Putting nit-picking aside, these strings are decent. They are definatly playable. Although for me I think I'm going to get thicker strings in the future. But it's all about prefference, you may like thin strings.
I got these strings with my new Ovation thinking the factory ones were going to be crap. They were and a string snapped a week into having it so I put these strings on the other day. They made the guitar sound quieter to me. They are thinner which makes them pretty playable but the less noise is kind of a deal breaker for me. They are also very trebly, which I didn't like but some people may prefer it.
They are not ruff or anything and still playable, but quiet and trebly.
They were cheap, but not of the best quality. So I guess you get what you pay for.

The only reason I didn't give these string a straight 5 rating is that they're not polycoated. Otherwise, I love these strings and have tried a LOT of different acoustic strings. I've been playing guitar for 40 years and I've not found anything better than these Martin Custom Lights.

Comments about Martin MSP3050 SP 80/20 Bronze Custom Light Acoustic Guitar Strings:

I dont play acoustic as much as i play electric, so i never really had a preference in acoustic strings. When i bought my Martin 000-15 it came equiped with these strings and they quickly became my favorite. With only a few minutes of playing, I noticed a big difference in these strings. I was even more in love with these strings after i saw the price- not bad.

After trying a number of sets of brands and guages of strings on my Applause AE128, and never being quite happy with the tone. I tried a set of these Martins, and WOW that guitar just woke up and started singing so pretty. And now every time I play that guitar, I get a ear to ear grin on my face! Martin Forever Now.

          By Leslie Ryan

          from Virginia

Comments about Martin MSP3050 SP 80/20 Bronze Custom Light Acoustic Guitar Strings:

I bought these strings comimg down to a lighter string of Martin's because of a cut on my left index finger from a table saw that took part of my finger off. The heavier stings were too much for my injury so I tried these 11 to 52's MSP3050 SP's the first morning at church the choir members were asking what I did to my guitar because it was so much louder and sounded better and I told them I just changed to a new string. I haven't used any other string cense, I love these strings.

Comments about Martin MSP3050 SP 80/20 Bronze Custom Light Acoustic Guitar Strings:

I am totally impressed with the tone and resonance of these strings. Good sustain.
I strung my Martin GPCPA1 with MSP3050 SP80/20 Bronze custom light strings a couple of days ago. I didn't like the coated Martin strings that it was originally strung with, sounded a little muted,so switched to D'Addario light set's of various kinds. I just never was happy with the tone of any of them. I am a hard flat picker and wear out strings quick. I play country,blue-grass,rock,and blues. As soon as I tried these, I was sold! I will use these strings from now on. Dan(singer-songwriter) THE YARD DOGGS.
          High quality!
Good value! I have tried many brands, expensive and otherwise, these will be my strings!

          awesome strings
When I started playing at practice, everyone in the band noticed the difference. The drummer thought I was playing through a new pedal! The custom light gauge is easy to play and rings like heavys.

Comments about Martin MSP3050 SP 80/20 Bronze Custom Light Acoustic Guitar Strings:

I'm enjoying the Martin strings. I bought a low level, inexpensive acoustic electric and immediately replaced the plastic nut and bridge with bone, the plastic pegs with ebony pegs, then after reading several reviews I replaced the strings with Martin Marquis extra light phosphor bronze which turned out to be the wrong choice for this guitar. The bottom end was dead and the top end was too bright in a bad way. After looking for comparisons online and listening to the differences I chose Martin Acoustic SP custom light 80/20 bronze strings and couldn't be happier. They are a perfect fit for this guitar. Extra light was slightly easier to play, especially coming from an electric guitar background, but the sound is much richer and warmer with the custom light bronze. Sometimes, you have to experiment to fight the right sound and quality. I got the brand right on the first try and found the sound I was looking for on the 2nd try. Both sets of strings were of the highest quality. At some point I may try another gauge of strings. If I do, I'll stick with Martin.
