Before I discovered this brand and Musician's Friend, I used a number of well known brands for my personal guitars, and those I repaired. I broke the high E so often just trying to get it in tune the first time, I had to buy high E strings in bulk instead of part of a set. Now, that never happens with new strings, and I rarely break one even after some use and abuse. Sure, they'll lose their brightness after a while, but sometimes that works, they mellow with age. That sound is good too, depending on what you like of course. Get the right gauge and install them properly, you won't often get any problems out of these strings. Now, once in a great while you will encounter some that didn't leave the factory just exactly right, but it actually happens less with this brand than some well known brands that shall go unnamed, because I don't want sued.
I repair guitars, so I've tried about every brand out there. These are tops in my book, especially when you consider the low price. Frankly though don't let the price fool you, these are better than many of the name brands in many ways.
These are top quality, regardless of the low price. I do not break the high E strings like I often do with other brands. Once broken in, they stay in tune or very nearly in tune nicely. They wear long, have a nice tone even when not amplified, and do wonders when you crank it up. If you have any problems with these strings, you either picked the wrong gauge for your style, or you're not installing them properly.
It's not often you find a great deal like this, most would pass these by simply because they cost way less than the better known brands, that would be a big mistake. Frankly, other than choosing different string gauges for different purposes, I no longer use any other brand of steel strings, unless somebody gives me a set to put on their guitar, even then I try to talk them out of that, these are better than most, as good as any.

I bought several of these sets to try them out. So far, out of the 3 sets (.009's)I've tried, the little E has come unwrapped at the ball end on 2 sets. I won't be buying anymore of these. Aside from this problem, they sounded good, and had no other problems. It's back to Fender strings for me. Never had a problem with the Fenders.

Comments about Musician's Gear Electric 9 Nickel Plated Steel Guitar Strings:

I originally bought these strings to use in my repair shop, but found them to be better than I expected. I now use them on most of my own guitars as well! I say "most" because I've found them to be just a little too short to restring a Bigsby-equipped 3+3 headstock guitar. The high E's are jus long enough for 25.5" scale 6-in-lines as well, unless you want multiple wraps around the posts. If only they were 2-3 inches longer! Oh, well……nit-picking! Good strings that I intend to keep buying!

Comments about Musician's Gear Electric 9 Nickel Plated Steel Guitar Strings:

Great strings at a low price, there's nothing better. If you have any problems with these strings, it's your installation methods, not the strings themselves. I find so many players that don't know how strings are supposed to be installed.
Not a lot of features, as I've said before. The trick here is choosing the right gauge for your taste and the instrument.
I have less breakage with this brand than the name brands. They hold tune well, and sound good, even on an acoustic.
Can't beat the price anywhere, probably the lowest priced strings I've found, yet they're better quality than some of the name brands. Way better than the lower priced name brands. I simply haven't found better, anywhere, for any price. I go through a lot of strings since I repair instruments, every repair gets a new set of strings automatically. My customers are happy with them, that's what counts.

Comments about Musician's Gear Electric 9 Nickel Plated Steel Guitar Strings:

Good quality (so far), good value for sure!
Hey...let's face it...you can find something wrong with a NEW Corvette, if you look long enough! I've bought several sets of these strings. Not the worst, not the best. I will say, anyone that changes their strings, on a regular basis, should not have any trouble with these. Yep, your fingers might have a "residue" on them...so what? Are you going to complain about washing your hands occasionally? Really, it's a good thing....health wise. And about the breaking of strings...YOU'RE A GUITAR PLAYER!!!! No one ever said, "Thes strings are unbreakable!" To complain about something that's as good a deal as these are, and give an above average usage, is, to me , a little rediculous. You paid a low price a set!!!! I have 12 guitars, change strings regularly on the ones I play regularly, and have had no more trouble out of these than "high dollar" strings. If you want to give something new a try, for the price, geet a couple of sets and see what you think. It's not a waste of money to find out for yourself if they work for you. "I" will continue to use them.
I've used bette & worse, but will continue to purchase these if for nothing else...back ups & gifts!
The ONLY reason they don't get a "10" is because Musician' Friend didn't PAY me to use them! LOL
    great value in my opinion.

I have many guitars, and can be very costly to keep clean-bright strings on them all. I have used many types over the years-I'm 56- and have found these an exceptional value. I have used these for over a year now and Only broke one string ,pilot error, I was using a speed winder while not paying attension SNAP,

I bend the Devil out of these and have never broken a single string while playing-bending them hard.

I normally wait till they go on sale then buy 20 sets for thirty clams

I put a set of these on my grandson's el cheapo Squire until he gets a little older to justify spending a little more money and I was quite surprised. I've been playing almost forty years and along wih playing I also set up and do repair work. I have used almost every brand on the market, and you just can't beat the price. They sound and feel about like any Ernie Ball, D adario etc. Haven't had them long enough to comment on how how long they last, but hey look at how many you can buy.

Comments about Musician's Gear Electric 9 Nickel Plated Steel Guitar Strings:

These strings are not bad. I go through strings a lot. With my sweaty and grimy digits the strings don't last long. But even the expensive strings don't last long for me either! The way I see it...why waste money on expensive strings when they will get dull and dead just as fast as the cheap strings.
The Musician's Gear strings gets the job done for me. Since I will have to change strings anyway might as well save some cash while I am at it.
Try them, they might just work for you.

I was a big fan of Ernie Ball Super Slinkys. These strings are totally equal in performance. I've used several dozen sets in the last 10 years and I can't remember ever breaking one. Great tone and long life. Outstanding light gauge strings.

Comments about Musician's Gear Electric 9 Nickel Plated Steel Guitar Strings:

The only subjective downside to these strings is that they can sound a little brittle during first use. An hour of play later and they sound much like D'Addario strings. They last a fairly long time before they start to go dead and 'thud' and they sound brighter than Ernie Ball Slinky strings. All in all they are a great deal to get and have a couple sets around for practice, backup or live shows. They are consistent in that they feel and sound the same from pack to pack and each restring.

Comments about Musician's Gear Electric 9 Nickel Plated Steel Guitar Strings:

I like steel strings, which these are, with a nickel plating. Most of the name brand strings are nickel, and it is my experience that the nickel strings go out of tune more often, when new, in more humid atmospheres (clubs), and changing temperatures (clubs). Personally, I like the edgier tone of the steel, and they seem to stay brighter longer.

I would prefer that these were made in the USA, but I have not found any strings, made anywhere, that I like better.....I change strings every 5 to 7 sessions, so the price of these sets is also very attractive. If you're buying strings anyway, try a set of these....the price is definitely right.

As a former full time professional guitarist, I feel qualified to talk a little about musicians gear guitar strings. For the price, these strings are a bargain. I play an average of 20 hours a week, all of my guitars are strung with musician gear strings, 3 electrics (1 is a ghetto Fly and 1 has a Floyd Rose),an acoustic electric, and both of my basses. When I play a gig, which is rare these days, I often receive compliments on my tone. However, I am mostly impressed with how long I can play these strings until they start to unravel, ..oh, I play electric 6 strings with stainless steel pick. Bottom line, these strings kill for the price!!!

It was setup perfect. My tele didn't rattle at all until I put these strings on it then it was terrible. When I switched to Fender super bullets the rattle was gone. Use as backups that is all they are good for!

I own & maintain a BUNCH of guitars. I bought a set of these just to see if I could go with them and save a bit of scratch.

I put them on my #1 gigging Strat. Initially, they sounded fine. I don't feel the need to be nearly as picky with electric strings as with acoustic. However, I noticed that I needed to do some pronounced adjusting to the intonation on the 5th string to get it right ... well as close to right as I could, I actually ran out of adjustment room. It was WAY off from what is normal ... WAY off.

When switching back to my usual brand strings, I needed to set the intonation on that 5th string back to the more expected setting to get it right.

This left me feeling as though I won't be buying these again. Not sure what could have caused the intonation issue in a string ... but it was definitely SOMETHING!

These are great to have for band rehearsals and learning songs with. They wouldn't be my first choice to gig with as they're not coated, but for an all purpose electric guitar string, these work just great! 49 years of playing, 33 as a pro. Great bang for the buck!

I've been playing guitar since around 1970. I've been using Musician's Friend brand strings for a long time. Recently, they have gone to being made in China (just like everything else). I've been using the Chinese version going on two years now and have had no problems. They stay in tune, and retain their tone for a long time. I use them on both Gibson and Fender guitars (LP, V, SG, Strat, Tele). The only string breakage I had was from really over tightening an E string when tuning (I was strumming the B string and tightening the E until it broke). They tarnish easily, but who cares? I will continue to buy them.
