Perfect fit for my Hofner Bass. Sturdy light weight hard case. Exactly what I needed. The only Con is that the neck brace is 1/2 inch (one half inch) too high. It must be removed and cut off that much and replaced. Just remove the screws on the outside of the case, pry the styrofoam neck brace upward (it also has staples on the sides), then cut off approx. 1/2 off the bottom (hack saw will work fine). The plush liner is lightly spray glued and is easy to trim. After this adjustment, just replace the neck brace to its position and reinstall the screws. A very easy process, can be done in about 1 hour. I would recommend this case to anyone. It is the only one available to fit the violin shaped Bass Guitar.

I purchased this case for my Hofner Icon Series Bass. The bass does not fit. The more expensive case has the same problem and you would think they would know this and post this point. I'm sending the case back, but it costs me shipping to recieve and now send the bass back.

I bought this for my Hofner clone bass. I read other reviews that it required modification and was prepared for that. I was delighted to find that it wasn't necessary. The case closes snuggly and cradles my bass perfectly.

Other than that you still have to adjust the size of the neckrest as stated in other reviews (thanks for that heads up) this is a fine case for the price. The adjustment was easy to do, I used my DeWalt cordless drill to remove the 4 screws, peeled back the fabric and cut the neck rest about an inch shorter with a utility knife (it's styrofoam), reglued the fabric and reassembled. I'm surprised you still have to do this, but no big deal. As I mentioned in the comments when I carry it the case is a bit neck heavy in balance but it fits my Rogue violin bass well so I feel secure in its protection.

I am a little surprised, that I had to modify the case, by removing the neck stabilization, and cut out 1" of foam and reinstall. Since this has been well-documented as an issue, I knew about it, but why the manfactuerer does not fix this is amazing!? There is no room for a neck at all, so it would not work as-is for anything.
The Handle mounts at an odd angle, not level, so it makes it very difficult to carry, awkward.
Functional, just a strange design.
Great price, and I guess worth the few hassles.

Same problem - the support is too high. As recommended by other reviewers, remove the neck support (4 screws - beware of the staples) peel back the cloth and cut off the bottom. I removed one inch. Bass then fits nice and tight. Excellent padding. Would be five star considering the price, except for the refit hassle.
Seems like they would correct it in the factory by now.

I give this instrument a 10 only after the neck support block is adjusted. Otherwise, you bass won't even fit in the case.
This case is better by far than the rectangular violin bass case that MusiciansFriend use to carry.
The top closes rather well, and the case itself looks beautiful. The padding inside is what I would expect on a very expensive case. As others have commented, you must remove the block the instrument neck rests on. Peel back the black material, and cut off 3/4 inch of the styrofoam block. Reinsert the block. The case is wonderful. It is not an arched top, but the top of the case is small enough that a blow to the top of the case is less likely to transmit damage to the bass. With the previous model, the lid was right against the strings, and the top was big. Any force on the top would be transmitted to the instrument. Bad design. I'm glad they came up with this current one. I love it!
For the low price, this case is a steal.

After reading other reviews here I purchased this case for my ICON bass. As several people stated it had to be modified but that was a simple procedure.
The case is definitly worth the price and I am very satisfied.
If this is what you seek for your instrument, Get it.
Just needs to be modified to fit an Icon bass, Simple procedure takes a few minuets and the case itself is sturdy and well made. Good price and great service as usual from Musician's Friend.

Considering the price, the build quality and the free shipping from Musician's Friend how can you go wrong? If you don't like it, send it back. Musician's Friend is the best and easiest company to get along with when it comes to satisfaction.
The build quality is very good for the price you are paying for it. It has five latches, rather than the three latches that are on my electric guitar cases. The interior is Styrofoam lined, covered with a plush lining in black. I would have given it a ten, but I had to alter the neck brace area to get my Hofner Icon Bass to lay flat. There is a storage areas in the neck portion that is nine and one half inches by three and one half inches. The lid to the storage area is not hinged and is only held on by the plush lining cloth. The case lid is hinged in two places. There really isn't any way to place a third hinge due to the case design.
As mentioned above, the storage area lid is not hinged. I had to alter the neck portion to make my bass lay flat.
Not bad considering the next cheapest case to fit a violin bass is $90. I can put up with a little less quality for what I paid for it. $50 and free shipping, plus I got an extra ten dollars off for completing a survey for Musician's Friend. How can you beat that?
