I read all of the reviews posted here before I ordered and was delighted to find the product I received was free from any defects mentioned by other reviewers. All of the screws were firmly seated, the strain relief was functional at both ends and after experimenting with several brands and styles of XLR connector I found the locking mechanism to function exactly as it should with no problems releasing. The length of snake was pliable and supple, a good thing as it did ship from the factory with a bad "memory," feeding out from the center of the pile over, over, over style. A bit of work and twist removal and it was ready for "reprograming." As for one reviewer's complaint about the numbering layout on the stage box end, I find that when I'm working with larger concert style splitter boxes (56+ inputs) it's actually easier to start with the higher numbered inputs and work my way back. (This not only helps keep the splitter input I'm aiming for accessable, but makes the FOH and MON engineers happy b/c the vocals get patched first, being at the end of the input list, and they can get to work on them straight away.) The box and of the snake in question is laid out to facilitate patching from 1 to 12, keeping the running end of the cables already patched out of the way.Overall, it is what it is. It's a value priced product. I bought it to fill an immediate need, and if it fails within a year or two, I'm sure it will have been involved in enough money making projects by then to pay for it's replacement, and maybe even an upgrade!

Snake arrived with 2 broken Jacks on the stage box, called Service dept was told they couldn't replace it until they got it back. So I went out and bought 2 replacement jacks and installed them.I needed it that weekend. Broke 2 more jacks that weekend while removing mike cords, replaced the 2 jacks, Decided that the lock release button was the cause of the jacks breaking so I removed all the release buttons, THe jacks fit so tight they won't come loose. have used it twice now, hoping the wire inside holds up better than the jacks did.The color coded fan is nice. I'm using a powered Beringer mixer so I don't need the sends but they will give me 4 extra wires to use if the cables start to break. Spend the extra $$ if you have it. Or if your like me, take a chance on the cheap stuff and replace the jacks one at a time as they break.

This is not a bad deal at all. As soon as I pulled it out of the box, 3 screws fell out. Other then that, this is a great deal!

FYI

By Shady Lady Productions

from Sarver, PA

After reading the reviews on this I was skeptical, but have a budget. A couple of reviews did mention that if you take care of this thing, no problems, so I figured it would be worth it as I baby all my equipment (everyone says I am extremely anal in this aspect). Nonetheless, this thing thing is turning out to be nothing but trouble. Although I've had it 2 years now and have made my money on it, I am now shopping for another, higher quality one. Strain relief constantly giving way, channels work and don't work randomly, I have had to resolder many connections, and the screws constantly come loose on it. In hind sight I wish I had spent a couple hundred more for a better unit.

Check this out!

By Tank

I have been thinking very hard about buying this snake for my band. Mainly for the low cost. But so many others have had problems with the thing. Then I look closer at the photos to see if I can determine any quality aspects. I look for details such as poor quality connectors, case manufacture, wire...ect and try to imagine how it would look in real life as if it were in front of me. I didn't have to look far!!! The number 7 input on the box is obviousely broken right in the freakin photo!!! It is missing the release button. Idiots.

Do not buy

By Jediopopz

I bought this snake in the expectation of lower quality because it was cheap. Screws started falling off this thing the day i bought it. It's piece of crap. Save up for a nice Horizon concert series. I've used those and they are built to Grade A specs. This thing is a piece, trust me. It may be a good value now, but once it breaks you'll realize how much you've been ripped off.

Rugged Snake for the Money..

By Seven 7 Band-S_dUZ

from Athens, GA

Just got this and I was happy to know that it was heavy, flexible, and the connectors seemed pretty solid. We'll see if it stands the test of time... I'll be using it every week from now until end of time with the cover band I'm in (Seven 7). After 4 years of regular gigging, We finally upgraded from a 9 channel 50' snake, 600 watt powered mixer with 40' speaker cables to 5000 watts, 24 channels, and a snake with ACTUAL RETURNS.

Good price but falls apart

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

I got this snake cause it was the most snake for the least amount of money. I like the different color cables in the fan out. The snake box sux, it arrived with the strain relief falling apart and I have to keep fixing it. And the way they number the snake box is weird too, The numbers start with 1 at the bottom insted of the top and are below the jack instead of above.. It should be numbered like your reading a book so it's easy to find stuff if you have a problem. Overall, if you need a cheap snake quick get it, but it's worth waiting until you have an extra $200 to buy a better snake.

These are junk!

By LampShadeBoy1

from TN

I am normally a fan of musician's friend products, but this thing is junk. My subsnake got 2 of the end pieces stuck in this thing and I had to bust the jacks to get it loose. The connectors are cheap on both ends, and the cable is 2-3x as thick as professional snakes. Save your money and get something better.
