they are inexpensive and they hold your guitars as they were designed to do. i don't go on gigs or tours, so i can't speak on that aspect of it. i simply use mines at home to hold and display my collection of guitars. and for that, they work just fine.

I ordered 4 of these stands. They are quite inexpensive and work as advertised, but all 4 stands I received were slightly "crooked". That is to say, with all 3 tripod legs extended fully, the top of the stand is not perpindicular to the floor - it leans to the left or the right by quite a large angle. So, when you place a guitar on the stand, it leans quite a bit. While the stands are still stable and usable, I wish they stood straight up.

This problem appears to be a result of loose manufacturing tolerances in the piece of metal that holds the tripod legs in the extended position. I suppose you could correct the problem by hammering the metal a bit to reduce the angle of the lean, but the problem could easily be solved by better quality control at the manufacturer.

These stands are still usable, but it's annoying that they lean so much to either side. I would suggest paying a bit more money for something of higher quality.

Comments about Musician's Gear Tubular Guitar Stand Black Pair:

Yes, technically they are guitar stands. However, they will be knocked over by a stiff breeze. I wouldn't trust any instrument I care about to these. If there is no chance of anything touching them or wind blowing on them or minor earthquake (yes, a consideration) then you can trust them with a guitar you don't care that much about, but otherwise, no. Very unstable.

Comments about Musician's Gear Tubular Guitar Stand Black Pair:

I purchased a pair of these last year and as a gigging musician we normally go though a pair of these in a year for whatever reason. The ones we just received are NOT like the old model. Yes, the rear leg is about 2 inches shorter than the previous model which makes this stand just about useless in a gig environment. It might be OK for the corner of your bedroom. Also the post that the cradle sits in has been completely removed and now there is just a hole in the tube that the cradle fits in. It is not a good design. I know they are inexpensive, but they are not even worth the money.

Comments about Musician's Gear Tubular Guitar Stand Black Pair:

I was expecting the same quality as the On Stage brand. The tubing is not the same diameter, its smaller. I was afraid to test it, so I just use it as a headphone stand. Unfortunately, I had to order a pair to find this out. Get the On Stage brand.

Comments about Musician's Gear Tubular Guitar Stand Black Pair:

I bought a few of these a year or two back and was stunned with the quality. They were outstanding and were a great deal. Now, on the other hand, the ones that I received are just trash. They shortened the back leg, changing the angle they sit and making them way less stable (WHY?!?!), used smaller diameter tubing all around, used cheaper foam, cheaper feet on the legs, paint so cheap that it's already scratched in a few places just from shipping, the actual part that holds the bottom of the guitar is angled funny, nothing really lines up well on them so they look cheap and awkward...these stands are a complete and utter fail.

The only reason that I gave them 2 stars is because they are indeed phenomenally cheap. If you're looking for the cheapest junk possible, then you've found a winner. The old model I would give 5 stars without hesitation. I can firmly say that I will not ever buy anything "Musician's Gear" ever again. Brand trust lost permanently.

These hold my 5-string basses just fine. They won't withstand any heavy bumping but if you're expecting that, you should probably have your instrument in a hard case anyway. Been using these in my practice space for years, never had one tip over. Good value.

They work fine. You get what you pay for. Use them mostly in a home setting, so they don't get a lot of handling. Tend to fall apart when carrying. But they do what they are intended for.
