I recently purchased a P.A. system and the original mic cord that came with the P.A. started shorting after 1 minor use,so I contacted Musicians Friend asap and requested another mic cord. Not only did they contact me right away, they did not do the usual bs companies normally do and make you spend money out of your pocket to send it back and wait countless weeks for a replacement...No problems whatsoever, they wrote me basically stating another mic cord is on the way which I received in a short amount of time....this is a great company.

A very disappointing purchase. The cord was used in my studio in a stationary application between a stationary microphone and the board. It was never used live or on a hand held mic.The cord worked as expected for (literally) a couple months at which time it started cracking and popping horribly. It lasted just long enough that I couldn't return it... ...nice.The problem SEEMS to be INSIDE the connections in BOTH XLR ends. The only way it would NOT crack and pop was if constant sideways pressure was applied to both XLR ends while inserted into the equipment, which I had to do for a day or two until I could get a new cord, but this wasn't feasible (or reasonable) to maintain, especially at the microphone end.I had figured, "It's a cord, what could go wrong" and had chosen to ignore the "You get what you pay for" rule.Yes, it was an inexpensive cord, but the hassle cost me a lot of time and frustration AND it didn't end up saving me any money. It was my first LIVE WIRE product, and it will also be my last. I will never buy another LIVE WIRE product.

      Awful

      By connor leppzer

Comments about Musician's Gear XLR Microphone Cable:

      awful.
This has to be one of the worst cables i have ever used. It is no where near a good connection, and you will be lucky to even have a connection at all. It is constantly humming and crackling, and it is almost impossible to get a good sound of of these cheap cables. Spend the extra money and get good cables, instead of buying these that you will surely have to return.

Much better quality cable and ends than I expected for the price. Comparable, or better than, the cables that used to come with Shure SM-58 microphones 20 years ago.

          Highly recommended. WILL purchase again.

Comments about Musician's Gear XLR Microphone Cable:

As posted by others this cable does not grap the mic securlty causing crackeling and a need to put pressure on the cable where it fits the mic. My cable did this after a short while and I never abused it. Don't buy these.

Comments about Musician's Gear XLR Microphone Cable:

These cables last and pick up no outside hum. There is nothing to dislike.
This is a huge update from MFs bottom line mic cable. The cable itself is larger, and extremely durable. The connectors are excellent, snug and secure.
For cost vs benefits, this can't be beat.

              Needs Some Work

              By zpointon

              See all my reviews

Comments about Musician's Gear XLR Microphone Cable:

When I first got this, if anything hit the mic cable, i would hear an insanely loud crackling noise, which tends to be quite frequent among users of this cable. So, to fix it, i placed three orthodontic (braces) rubber bands near the back of the mic connector so there would be a firmer grip, and this worked out very well, caused less motion and disconnection between the microphone and the cable. The orthodontic rubber bands that i used are about 2 millimeters in diameter, so i would figure that anything of an equivalent size would work well.

              Adequate

              By Brian Fennig

              from Dallas

Comments about Musician's Gear XLR Microphone Cable:

These are basic cables; nothing more. Great if you use them in the studio, probably won't last if you tour with them. Buy them if you are going to leave them in place with your DAW; buy something higher quality if you travel and play a bunch.
