After reading an article about how much Richie Kotzen liked this device, the geek in me decided that I had to have one so that I could tune whether I was plugged in or not. On the plus side, the package comes with everything you need to make a nice match for most of the standard colors. On the bad side, the installation was not as easy as N-Tune would have you believe. I installed it on a ?57 Road Worn Strat (whatever your position is on the RW series, the guitar feels awesome) and most of the issues were with de-soldering the gobs from the existing pot. I had a friend who solders regularly to help me, and I?m glad I did. We ended up cutting the factory wires, then prepping them for the N-Tune. There were a total of 8 wires that you will remove and replace. Then next issue was shimming the tuner ring so that the knob fit snuggly. The entire process took a little over an hour, but it is completely worth the effort. Simply pull up, tune and play! I would highly recommend the product, with the caveat that you may want to pay a tech to do it for you.

Bought 3 of these and the first would not fit my les paul because the wood is too thick. Later found out that other people have the same problem but their website does not mention this. Do not attempt to install yourself unless you are very skilled at soldering and can read wiring diagrams to a tee. I guess mine was just a bad all around experience and I sent all three back after the hassle of trying to install the 1st one. Great concept but misleading on the simplicity to install and compatabilities of guitars they will fit on.

Comments about N-Tune On Board Chromatic Electric Guitar Tuner:
The install was a bit tricky, and there's plenty of room for something to go wrong during install, especially if you don't pay attention to the instructions. If you don't have experience with this sort of modification, get someone with real skills to do it for you. That said, it's worth all the money and effort, and I won't go back to using any other tuner EVER! Every instrument I have that doesn't already have an onboard tuner is getting one of these, and I'll be doing some installs for friends of mine.
There is a velcro battery clip in the kit for securing the battery inside the control compartment, and it works out well, but if you're good working with a small router or Dremel tool, it's not too hard to install a flip-up battery compartment for easier battery changes without having to open up the control compartment every time. I installed mine in the control compartment cover, so I didn't have to get into the wood of my bass. I haven't worn out the battery that came with it, but I won't have to disturb anything on the inside to change it when the time comes. You're on your own with the flip-up battery compartment, the velcro clip is the only thing supplied in the kit.
I really like the fact that this tuner will lock on to a low B on a five-string bass, unlike just about every other tuner I've ever tried. Operation is easy, and the output is muted when in tuning mode. The display is surprisingly easy to read, and better than I'd hoped. For me, tuning has never been faster or more convenient.
I'm only rating a 9 for this because I haven't had it long enough to assess durability. For every other concern, it's top-notch.
I can't say enough about how great this is, and at less than half the price of any decent pedal tuner (and only a fraction of a rack tuner) you simply can't go wrong. There's no forgetting your tuner at home when you leave for the gig, no cables or patchcords required, no hassle and no stress. Value? A steal at twice the price, no kidding.

Comments about N-Tune On Board Chromatic Electric Guitar Tuner:
I recenently installed an N-tune tuner on my G&L Legacy. I've made many previous mods on this guitar most recently converting it from SSS pickups to HSS. I found the N-tune relatively easy to install. I do think the printed instructions could be a little clearer, but they offer a video on their web-site which makes up for the printed instructions. I had to relocate my volume and tone knobs to make it fit due to the fact I used a collar to mount my Humbucker. The N-tune works great. My only complaint would be that they need to make the batter leads longer or at least provide extra wire in the kit if you want to extend the leads. I had to mount the battery between the single coils under the pickguard and was forced to extend the leads. Has I not previosly modified the guitar- this may not have been a problem, but N-tune should offer as many options as possible. I do think manufacturers should take notice and begin issueing the N-tune on stock models. It really makes tuning so much easier.

Richie Kotzen loves this product and now so do I. I bought this tuner shortly after seeing Ritchie use it on stage. This thing is as good as it gets. I read Richie's review in Premier Guitar and figured out N-Tune is what he was using. After that I had to get one of these. I love this tuner, it is more accurate that my Boss and honestly this thing is just cool. I now have one for my Tele and my Strat. After a week of using N-Tune I am wondering how I lived without it?

It's so simple, yet so brilliant. A built in tuner! I can't tell you how convenient it is to never have to look for a tuner. I gave away my other tuner when I had these installed on my PRS and Tele. Incredible. The only problem I can see is that I didn't think of it first!
Comments about N-Tune On Board Chromatic Electric Guitar Tuner:
I put one on my Strat and I love it. My guitar looks like it came from the custom shop! However, it was not as easy to install as I thought or sounded on the internet. On the strat a new pickup screw that has a flat head comes with the kit, but you have to countersink the new screw in the pick guard. It's really close to the pick-up notch and it can get kinda thin! I used 2 sizes of drillbits and turned them with my hand to keep from taking too much plastic off the pick guard. I am pretty good with a soldering iron and found this project pretty tricky!! It could have come with a better wireing diagram. It probobly wouldn't cost a whole lot to have installed so if you don't have much experience with this, take it to a guitar shop. Now that I have it, it's amazing! It's verry accurate and easy to use! I like the LEDs better than a tunner with a needle and the mute-tuning allows you to tune on stage in the middle of a song. Now we'll just put it to the test and see how long it holds up.
Comments about N-Tune On Board Chromatic Electric Guitar Tuner:
I love it. It's like having a quality floor tuner built into your guitar- one less pedal to carry around or clutter up your pedal board. The switch is silent and the tuner is accurate. If you do frequent string changes like I do it's really nice not to have to get out a cable and a tuner to do so. If you have done pickup swaps or rewiring in the past and are comfortable with a soldering iron it should be an easy DYI job- if not I can't imagine a tech charging too much for install because it's pretty easy.
Comments about N-Tune On Board Chromatic Electric Guitar Tuner:
I have been playing guitar now for ~28 years. I have been using this tuner for 2 months now. N-Tune is the best thing I have purchased for my guitar since my AMP. I can't believe how accurate this thing is. I have put it up against my Korg tuner and I have to say it is actually more accurate. I am now 100% hooked on the convenience and ease of use of this product. It was easy to install and the instructions are very thorough. If you are thinking about buying this tuner don't hesitate. This is worth every penny. I just bought 2 more, one for my Les Paul and one for my son's strat. Buy this tuner you will wonder how you ever lived without it.

I can't say enough good things about N-Tune, I purchased this product 2 months ago and I am now an addict. Everyone I show this thing to at gigs eats it up. It looks cool, it is super accurate and the convenience is off the charts. If the guys from N-Tune are listening after using your tuner you would have to pry it from my cold dead hands before I would ever give it up. For those of you who don't have N-tune get it! This thing is worth every penny and more.
