As a solo performer using a Farley chair with an Ipad on a mike stand, this attaches at just the right height to make it easily accessible. I use the cup holder for my finger picks, and table for my capo and straight picks, so I don't know how stable it would be with a drink involved. I have only used it for a couple of performances, so I can't speak for durability, but so far I am impressed with this tool

Great product...but do check your stand dimensions

Comments about O-Tray Microphone Stand Tray and Drink Holder:

As everybody says, this is a great product. However be aware that not all mic stands have the same dimensions. The unfavorable reviews are probably by people who have unusually skinny mic stands. I have a bunch of On-Stage and Musician's Gear stands and the holder fits perfectly on the lower section. However I also have Peak stands, and this product is too big for them. It also doesn't fit on my music stands (too small). I also agree with the reviewer who wishes there were a version of this product for the UPPER skinnier part of mic stands. I would prefer to place this holder immediately above the coupling, since this would reduce the risk of knocking it loose. (It would then be resting on the coupling, as well as using friction to stay in place. You haven't lived until you stand up after wiring up a stage snake, bang the drink holder with your head, and spill an entire beer INTO the snake.) So: Great product, but be aware that it only fits the lower part of most mic stands.

Comments about O-Tray Microphone Stand Tray and Drink Holder:

I already reviewed this item once but thought it was worth saying that I bought a second one for my husband, who likes it too. We've had several performances since then and it's worked real well for us. The only thing I noticed is that, because it only fits on the lower part of our mic stands, it's a bit low if you're standing up. But that's a minor inconvenience and it might not be an issue with straight stand (we were using boom stands). All in all, it sure beats putting your drink on the ground, and we now have a nifty little shelf to put our capo and pics on! I've also added another picture where you can see the shelf better than the the picture I included with my last review.

My FAVORITE gig accessory - I don't know how I ever gigged without it.

        By Jonathan Klippstein

        from Wisconsin

Comments about O-Tray Microphone Stand Tray and Drink Holder:

I absolutely love this product so much that it inspired me to write my first review on musiciansfriend.com. My band knows how much I love this product and when I left it at a gig about a week ago they joked that I wouldn't be able to perform. I am on MF today to write this review and because I am buying two more; one to replace my original (left at an out-of-town gig) and another to serve as a backup in case they ever stop making them. Had I not left my original at a show I'm sure it would still have had another 100 gigs+ left in her.
In previous years of gigging I used a drink holder stand attachment, and I will never be able to go back. Don't underestimate the tray that is included with this product. The plastic material this product is built from is very sturdy and the tray I've used to hold everything from picks, a digital clock, my phone, cigarettes, even an additional (backup) beer!
The quality of this product is excellent for the price. The one I bought has one chip in the side that it picked up somewhere along the way over the past year and a half of gigs, but this thing has been used and abused and I can still press down very firmly to test it and and it is still just as sturdy as day one. I attach and remove it from the mic stand every gig and there is no noticeable deterioration over time or impact on the holding power. It has been in my car on the hottest summer days and through the long cold Wisconsin Winter and it's still functioning perfectly.
Simply said I can't ask for more for the item at this price point. I would definitely pay a premium for a model built from a stainless metal as opposed to the hard plastic, but for the low price I paid it has functioned above and beyond my expectations.

Comments about O-Tray Microphone Stand Tray and Drink Holder:

When I perform, this is an ideal place for my water bottle, capo, tuner, cheat cards, a timer or small clock (a performer looking at a wrist watch distracts the audience) and sometimes a small prop or two. I bought one of these O-trays a few years ago, and lost it in a recent burst of cleaning and organizing my house. I was delighted to find that it was still available from MF, and immediately bought another one ... it's that good!

Comments about O-Tray Microphone Stand Tray and Drink Holder:

If you use capos and slides and switch between flat and finger picks you will find this worth having. It holds everything and a drink too.
It snaps onto the stand so....
As other reviewers noted you must have a stand it fits or retro fit a stand you have. I took mine to the store and found a stand I like that accommodates this.
If you gig a lot it is easier (and more professional looking) than finding a stool or chair to put stuff on.
This is my second one of these because I gave my last one to another performer I was gigging with when she begged me to leave it up for her set.
If you only want a drink holder this is overkill but it does work well as one. I prefer it to the swirly one because I've had issues with some of those transmitting noise up the stand to the mic when I access my drink.
I also use it on my music stand when I am rehearsing and learning new material.

Comments about O-Tray Microphone Stand Tray and Drink Holder:

Not too much to explain here, what you see is what you get. It does work good for what it says it will do. I have a swirly gig and it works good for beer bottles and cans but not good for bottled water, the plastic grabs when you try to remove the bottle and this can cause spills.

This holder is a must-have if you play harp and need a convenient place to store your different harps and a bottle of water during the gig. (Holds about six harps.) Definitely beats a harmonica belt. Works great and I highly recommend.

Comments about O-Tray Microphone Stand Tray and Drink Holder:

I bought two of these and then found out my stands are 3/4" diameter instead of the more regular 7/8". But my solution was to cut some small lengths of 3/4" copper plumbing tube (I think 3/4" CPVC would also work well) and slip them onto my stand shafts like bushings. Then the O-tray clips on well to the 7/8" outer diameter of the plumbing tube. I think that the O-tray company has a good idea and good product here but they should send along a bushing or adapter for the many of us with 3/4 diameter stands.

Comments about O-Tray Microphone Stand Tray and Drink Holder:

This is a nice drink holder/shelf. I use it to hold my drink and a harmonica or two that I use a couple of times during the set. I have to switch back and forth between guitar and harmonica relatively quickly, so it's important to have it within arm's reach. Seems to grip and hold the mic stand tube well. My only complaint is that it doesn't fit the extension tube on my stand, only the lower tube. That means I have to bend over slightly to reach it. It's a relatively minor complaint, but I suggest you measure your stand first before buying.

I have not yet used this live (playing in a punk band sometimes mic stands get knocked over/broken by the crowd) But I have used it in my studio to hold my drink, capos, picks, anything! Also when I had first gotten it I snapped it on a mic stand and to test how strong it was I put a 10 pound weight on it and it held its grip. So overall if you don't want anymore spilled drinks and a convenient place to hold stage tools get it! Especially at this price.

I've owned five of these for years - I use them in my studio to keep musicians from placing drinks on gear - plus I bring one to every gig I play. (I'm a drummer and they're perfect for holding a soda can or water bottle plus other small items.) I just bought three more - these things are awesome. They'll hold a drink plus you can hang a tambourine from them, along with shakers and picks and a capo, etc. Simple, with no moving parts. They fit the lower half of "normal" sized mic stands. (I have one older Euro stand they won't fit, but every other stand works fine.) Wouldn't be without them.
