I have been very happy with this stand until the threads on one of the screws failed while setting up for a program. I swapped the failed screw with one that hadn't failed yet. Really surprised to see this weak point (stripped threads on the screw). It appears there is an obvious design flaw in the screws. The steel used is too soft and the fine threads are too thin to withstand repeated use which the stand was supposed to be able to handle. It would be nice if the company would replace all failed screws or make replacement parts readily available. Using metric threads has hindered finding suitable replacement screws, i.e. thumb screws.

Music stand is fine, but like the review below says, the screws strip really quick. Don't know if we have a bad batch here, but we have 4 of them and 3 of them have stripped screws. I'm sure the 4th one will be going soon. Had to get replacements from the hardware store (M6 x 1.0 with the butterfly ends). And doesn't this stand look exactly like the Musician's Gear one?

On-Stage Conductor Stand

Comments about On-Stage Stands Conductor Stand:

I have owned this about 2 years and it is falling apart. The threads on every bolt have stripped and had to be replaced. At my last gig the pop rivets on the legs gave out and I spent the night struggling to keep it together with duct tape. All my bandmates own the Proline brand and have no trouble. That will be my next stand.

Not tall enough, metal rivets in tray make writing notes difficult

Comments about On-Stage Stands Conductor Stand:

The "OnStage Conductor" stand will probably work if you sit while playing or standing if your height is less than 5'-8". I'm 6'-3" and this stand (at max extension) barely makes it to my chest, so I have to look down quite a bit (while standing playing guitar). When fully extended, the bottom of the tray is at 3'-8". With a slight tilt in the tray, the center of my sheet music is at 4'. I need something with about 8 more inches.

It's called a "conductor" stand, but I would think it's lack of height makes it a poor choice for that application. Usually the conductor stands on a riser so that he/she can be easily seen. The stand stays on the floor. If our conductor at church were to use this stand, the sheet music would be down at his waist. And again, the inability to easily raise and lower it is a negative in the "conductor" application.

I'll be looking for something new that is taller and has a clean, flat tray (no rivets).
It uses screw knobs, so it's not great if you like to lower the tray after playing. For example, in a church setting, you might stand to play your instrument, but then during the sermon you may want to lower the tray so that you see the speaker (or so people in back of you can see). Also, if you go from a lowered position and then raise it during your performance, there is nothing to stop the upper shaft from coming completely out of the lower shaft, so now the top portion is wobbling in your hand and all of you sheet music falls to the floor (hasn't happened to me, but I could see it happening).
Seems study enough. It uses metal tubes and then plastic at all of the joints. The braces for the bottom tripod seem to function well. The scew knobs seem to keep everything in place (though I'm using this for a practice area, so it doesn't get taken down and moved at all).

There are four rivets in the middle of the tray. They are very annoying if you are trying to write notes on your sheet music (if you only have less than 3 layers of paper).

Comments about On-Stage Stands Conductor Stand:

This stand broke right out of the box. On one of the leg supports, the rivet pulled right through the center pole leaving the leg flopping around uselessly. I had not even put the top of the stand on yet. Musician Friend's customer support promised to send another stand but then I got an Email saying one wasn't available for about a month. Once the replacement gets here I'll see if it's any better, but the first one was pure junk.

Comments about On-Stage Stands Conductor Stand:

This stand is awesome, especially for the price. It's heavy duty, very stable, and holds exactly what I need it to, whether it be a 3-ring binder full of lyrics for cover shows, or just music while I'm in the studio. Very nicely done.

Comments about On-Stage Stands Conductor Stand:

I began playing music over 50 years ago and worked as an audio engineer and video producer for over 25. These stands are as sturdy as any stands I've ever seen, including those that I would not call portable. In a recording studio I've used them not only as a stand for holding music and/or copy, I've also found them to be strong and stable enough to use them as light duty tables, Bottom line... I own four of them and thing they're ABSOLUTELY GREAT!!!

Comments about On-Stage Stands Conductor Stand:

I got one of these via the Stupid Deal Of The Day thing that Musician's Friend runs. Actually, I have bought several things from them that way. This stand came up a few weeks ago, and it is awesome. About 1/2 what I would have paid, and I work at a music store. I just wish I bought more of them.

Rivets on base keep popping, making unusable

Comments about On-Stage Stands Conductor Stand:

Very disappointed in the quality of workmanship
The rivets connecting the base elements to the stand keep popping so the stand will not stand.
A stand that will not stand has no value

I play the accordion and sometimes I stand and sometimes I sit and this stand is easy to move up and down and I like the large book holder and the fact that I can take it apart for easy mobility scale of 1-10 10 the best I would rate this 10
