This 3.5mm adapter cable connects instruments, microphones, or tuning pickups to its 1/4" plug. I don't know what's up with the other reviews, but I've had one of these for some time and it works perfectly. I've used it on iPads, iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4S with no issues. Mostly I've used it for connecting to the iPhone as a quick tuner.

I have found that most iPad or iPhone adapters work well with iPads, but not this one. I needed an 1/8" to 1/4" cable for my iPad and I have been unable to find one that has a long enough (I don't know what to call the metal piece at the end that goes inside the device.) It is my fault for not paying attention; this unit description says it works with iTouch and iPhone and it does not say it works with the iPad, but maybe it should.

Maybe I got a lemon... Was happy to finally be able to interface a standard pickup mic with Cleartune. However, this adapter did not work at all, rendering my mic unable to pick up any pitches at all, or only sporatically.
